Stroman threw 166.1 innings last year, is 24 years old (not 21) and the Jays don't really believe in innings limits (the science is very shaky). He would not be approaching any limit.

My bad, I was only looking at his MLB innings.

1) Brett Anderson - 65.9%

2) Marcus Stroman - 64.1%

3) Dallas Keuchel - 62.3%

4) Jaime Garcia - 62.2%

5) Tyson Ross - 61.5%

Is it a small sample? Yes, but GB% stabilizes quickly. Stroman 2.0 is one of the best GB pitchers in MLB and his 2-seamer is an elite pitch.

Keuchel 2014 - 6.57 K/9, 2.16 BB/9, 63.5% GB, 3.20 xFIP

Stroman 2015 - 6.04 K/9, 2.13 BB/9, 63.5% GB, 3.39 xFIP

strikeout rate goes up after today

Stroman has the lowest September ERA in team history

According to Buck on TV. He didn't say how many minimum innings.

Doc

6.93 K/9

1.94 BB/9

54.1% GB

3.39 FIP/ERA

Stro

7.28 K/9

1.92 BB/9

54.7%

2.93-3.43 FIP/ERA

The way he pitches reminds me so much of Doc too. Multiple fastballs that move, can spot them on either corner moving either way, great breaking ball, can throw a changeup too.

He's like Doc reincarnate, into a little black dude.

Great comp. The resemblance is uncanny. The funny thing is that Doc had the prototypical pitcher's body, and Stroman is (almost) the exact opposite.

Ugh, no, my Silvergun account.

That's right - secretly I'm the DDL champion.

Guy should have been banned months ago anyway. Isn't having multiple accounts against the rules?

You're not nearly the limerist to pull off that brazen fib.

It's great to have a pitcher my height succeed. Now I know that if I could have thrown 95 instead of 75, I could have been a pitcher instead of second baseman. Thank you Marcus!

I actually like the Doc comparison a little bit. I think they may not share physical traits, but do share similar mental traits. I think they do also have a similar repertoire.

what impresses me the most about Stroman is that he is unlike a lot of young guys. He doesn't always want to go for the K. I fully believe that Stroman is capable of going 5 innings and striking out 14 guys. But he doesn't want that. He's very efficient and wants to give you innings. If he needs the K, he can try for it.

He's a special player in that he's smart, exuberant, confident and very likeable.

The strikeout is the most efficient way to get an out, you don't think pitchers should strive for that? Marcus Stroman does try to strike batters out, as he should. Strikeouts are good.

I think what you mean to commend him for is the good batted-ball mix. With a 55%+ GB%, he doesn't necessarily need to pile up strikeouts to pitch a good game.

More like 64% GBs. Different pitch mix than last year, he's utilizing the 2-seamer and cutter like crazy right now and racking up the GBs. He was a good GB pitcher last year but right now he's turning into an elite one.

strike out pitches usually get hitters to chase. This leads to a lot of wasted pitches. I think a groundball pitcher is a lot more efficient because he will always be in the strike zone and forces the hitters to swing.
