BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 What irony tonight that the two guys that we all have been pushing for as high leverage guys put us behind (Hendriks, Lowe). I still support these two for high leverage situations though, they're still the best choices, both just made fatal mistakes in location today. I really wonder what's going on with Hawkins at this point, I was very surprised to not see him out there today at all at any point in the game... not even warming up as a matter of fact... makes me wonder if he might have re aggravated something during his bullpen warmup last night, or just a case of being extremely careful with him. My reaction to the loss yesterday is different than with Sanchez's outings. If NYY beat our best, then so be it. Sanchez is not our best. Last night Lowe/Hendriks were the right choices. They made a couple of bad pitches and they were not missed.

Really hoping that Gibbons' mindset isn't that Lowe and Hendriks gave up runs, so it must be Sanchez' turn again.

To me, it's also different when the other team scores via hit(s) and balls in play rather than walks, regardless of how competitive they may be.

In fact we also beat up their best pretty good too and the outcome was almost very different.
Lil Looper Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 this is why we should never listen to Gibby quotes. It was just two nights ago he said he had full faith in Sanchez. And of course now he backs off. Which I agree with, but its annoying that he speaks definitively but pulls a 180 quickly. Would you rather say he has no confidence in the guy? He is trying to instill confidence in sanchez and in the end it didnt work out. You have to read between the lines, most mangers are just going to go full PC to the media. They aren't going to tell the truth.
