ALDS Rotation?

Game 1 Price

Game 2 Dickey

Day off

Game 3 Stroman

Game 4 Price

Game 5 Dickey

Idea being Estrada is long man in BP in the event either Dickey or Price struggle on short rest, don't need Hutch or Buehrle and can have an extra bench option in Carerra or Kawasaki.

I agree with you on Pompey, but if Gibbons is going to make the decision to take him over Carrera (which he should), then it behooves him to give Pompey at least a FEW damn PAs before the playoffs.

I think our best bet at this point re: Pompey is that he gets a chance in the second game tonight and does something noteworthy, aside from baserunning.

Not many RH relievers will get used other than Osuna, Hawkins and Hendricks anyway. Maybe Lowe. Really no role for Hutch at all and Gibby CLEARLY doesn't trust him at all any more.

If that's the case then Carrera should be included as second PR. Buehrle has no benefit on the roster. Eating innings isn't a skill that is wanted in the playoffs.

Not sure I agree. Blowouts happen. If it means throwing MB in there so as to preserve better options for other closer games/situations. I don't think you need both MB and Hutch, but I think you need to have one of them. I'd choose MB.

Can you blame him?

He's our second best lefty though isn't he? I mean he's never thrown out of the pen but I'd take him over Loup any day in the 7th or 8th if Cecil has been used or is being saved.

Plus, I hate to say this cause I'll sound like a lame baseball dinosaur, but he has so much experience including playoffs and he is still Mark Buehrle. There's just no way I can see AA/Gibby leaving him off the roster.

Hell no

I don't want Hutch on this team in the post season AT ALL

Like I don't even want to be vaguely aware that he's in the pen and MIGHT get used for ONE inning at SOME POINT. The thought makes me shaky, nauseous, nervous and frankly despaired.

I'd go with:

Catchers (2)

Russell Martin

Dioner Navarro

Infielders (7)

Josh Donaldson (3B)

Edwin Encarnacion (DH)

Ryan Goins (2B)

Cliff Pennington (Backup IF)

Justin Smoak (1B vs. R, PH otherwise)

Troy Tulowitzki (SS)

Chris Colabello (1B vs. L, PH otherwise)

Outfielders (4)

Jose Bautista (RF)

Kevin Pillar (CF)

Dalton Pompey (4OF/PR)

Ben Revere (LF)

Pitchers (12)

Brett Cecil (L #1)

RA Dickey (#3)

Marco Estrada (#4)

Latroy Hawkins (R #2)

Liam Hendriks (SU)

Drew Hutchison (R #3)

Aaron Loup (L #2)

Mark Lowe (SU)

Roberto Osuna (CL)

David Price (#1)

Aaron Sanchez (R #1)

Marcus Stroman (#2)

Buehrle really has no use. Pompey is a better pinch runner than Carerra and that's what 4th OF will be used for.

What's the point of Hutch

I still think Buehrle makes the roster even if we don't need him. They'll use veteran leadership, post season experience, swan song or valuable 3 years with the Jays as an excuse to why he is on the post season roster.

I think he makes the roster because other than Cecil you don't have another lefty option that you can rely on out of the pen and you can't use Cecil twice. Loup has been given chances down the stretch and has not shown he can be relied on. I think MB can be as pure Loogy

I'll use this but take Carrera instead of Hutch. You don't need that many pitchers and Hutch hasn't even been used in September anyway.

Buehrle as a Loogy? lol, his 3.66 K/9 against them outta really get us out of jams.

Certainly not a lefty specialist, but he has a knack for inducing DPs and has the best pickoff move on the team that can help contain the running game. I'm certain there will be a time when he'll be helpful in the playoffs.

Loup gets more groundballs and strikes more guys out. I'll take my chances with the better player.

You might prefer Loup over Buerhle, but I'm not convinced the people making the decision would choose Loup if it's one or the other. Either way, if MB is on the roster, they will find a use for him at some stage.

Why not both Loup and Buehrle?

^ This. I love Mark B but he is useful as a SP or not at all. And Im sad to say he cant make this playoff rotation.
