G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Bunch of stuff on Twitter I'll adjust thread title if more comes out
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 What does he mean AA will be kept This is not s charity job. AA is a highly respected GM with 5 jobs open around MLB
labadee Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Source? I thought Shaprio said he wasn't discussing anything until the season was over
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hope to sign Price? Yeah good luck with that. He's going to get a stupid amount of money.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 What does he mean AA will be kept This is not s charity job. AA is a highly respected GM with 5 jobs open around MLB Sounds like he just made a comment that AA will be extended according to a quote on CBS Sports. This is not a surprise of.course The team and attendance figures have saved AA's ass this year
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Shapiro really shouldn't be commenting, he's still employed by the Indians
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Happy to see he'll be involved in baseball decisions.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Source? I thought Shaprio said he wasn't discussing anything until the season was over Heyman CBS
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Obviously Shapiro is more of an in-season talker than Beeston and Anthopoulos
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I love price, but don't think it's a good investment. Better options to bolster the rotation.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 This may be just a case of a Twitter mouthpiece regurgitating platitudes from Heyman as if theyre actual quotes from Shapiro. I'm thinking they're not.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Stroman, Osuna, Hutchison, Dickey, Estrada. We need an ace lol
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Stroman, Osuna, Hutchison, Dickey, Estrada. We need an ace lol Stroman could be one but yes we do, but there are lots of arms on the market this offseason.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Stroman, Osuna, Hutchison, Dickey, Estrada. We need an ace lol That's assuming Estrada's returning.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I don't want to see Hutch pitch anymore
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I don't want to see Hutch pitch anymore He won't be a starter this year anymore if Stroman delivers.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 This sounds like BS, or an extremely condensed version of what Shapiro actually said. AA will be kept - I mean ok, he is working in his home country...but he is a free agent. "We came to an agreement to extend is contract" would be the right way to say this, not unilaterally stating he will be kept as if he has a contract to be fired from otherwise. Regarding Dickey - if AA is to be kept, should that not be his decision to pick up the option? Although this looks like an obvious statement with how he's pitched recently. Regarding Price - Good news, hope it's not a rash decision/platitude by the new guy to try to placate the fans.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 ^ exactly great points Shapiro probably wants to control.everything. can't see AA sticking around
flafson Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Stroman could be one but yes we do, but there are lots of arms on the market this offseason. You assume that any of them want to come to Canada. Besides, if you spent stupid money on a pitcher, might as well be Price.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 ^ exactly great points Shapiro probably wants to control.everything. can't see AA sticking around Its been known he wants to keep AA as GM and he will focus more on the president role not baseball operations. AA loves Toronto and Canada so I have a hard time seeing him go elsewhere if he's offered the GM role in Toronto.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 ^ exactly great points Shapiro probably wants to control.everything. can't see AA sticking around Why not. He must be happy with what he's inheriting. And he can always pull rank. AA is getting extended I have zero doubt
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Anthopoulos is essentially a free agent. Maybe Seattle, Philly or Detroit give him a better offer or has a better ownership situation. Unless they offer something like 20 million/year I can't see AA leaving. He's got a young family and is Canadian. People like him don't seem to be swayed by a couple million either.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Sounds like he just made a comment that AA will be extended according to a quote on CBS Sports. This is not a surprise of.course The team and attendance figures have saved AA's ass this year It's the other way around, to a good extent, it's AA's drafting, development and trades that have saved his own ass and have resulted in a very good team attracting sold-out crowds and record-breaking tv ratings for his employer. All of this before Shapiro has made a single move, not that I'm against his hiring, au contraire, I like his hiring. We'll see what happens.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Its been known he wants to keep AA as GM and he will focus more on the president role not baseball operations. Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 ^ exactly great points Shapiro probably wants to control.everything. can't see AA sticking around You must be tired of being wrong. AA will be re-signed.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Anthopoulos is essentially a free agent. They probably would give a better offer but unless they blow him out of the water I doubt he goes anywhere.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 They probably would give a better offer but unless they blow him out of the water I doubt he goes anywhere. Seattle and Philly is no go as both presidents want a say in baseball operations (though Macphail is legit good unlike the Seattle President). Why leave Toronto to go to a worse situation
