dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So he's Tanaka without the strikeouts. tanak isn't a groundball machine
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 tanak isn't a groundball machine Sanchez is...and he doesn't strike guys out many either. Stro is a short, black Sanchez.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Expectations are/were too high for this kid BUT, given he is healthy, with the lack of depth behind Price we have no choice but to throw him in the deep end and see if he floats - 2015. If he floats, he is a valuable SP asset and if he struggles he is still a decent arm in pen. Stand by most post on the 8th. Few could have predicted he would be this good coming back on a legit basis. Im glad he floats. Blown away by Stro. Was using his slider more last night and less of the 2 seamer. Like Tanaka, Every start he seems to have something else working. Love to see him blow the odd 4 seamer by some guys. His down and in breaking ball to LHH just isn't fair when he commands it.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Sanchez is...and he doesn't strike guys out many either. Stro is a short, black Sanchez. Stroman also doesn't walk guys. That's the difference between being himself and being....s*****.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So... have we decided that a single AAA rehab game isn't all that meaningful???
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So... have we decided that a single AAA rehab game isn't all that meaningful??? lol. yupper Listening to the Yankees talk about Stro was just fun. Headley said it was like he had 6 pitches.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So... have we decided that a single AAA rehab game isn't all that meaningful??? In terms of results, no. But you can use rehab starts to determine what a pitchers stuff looks like, as well as his control/command.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I can't tell if Krylian has gone full Jonn or is dumb?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So... have we decided that a single AAA rehab game isn't all that meaningful??? all minor league stats are misleading
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I can't tell if Krylian has gone full Jonn or is dumb? I believe he's being satirical.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 all minor league stats are misleading No Jim, not all MILB stats are misleading, if you believe that, I don't know what to tell ya.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I believe he's being satirical. Thank god because I thought he was a good poster but lately I was questioning it.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Also Scott Macarthur is a dumn dumn.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Thank god because I thought he was a good poster but lately I was questioning it. He's just having fun, it kind of drips with it, to be honest, up your game brah!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I believe he's being satirical. At least one person gets it. Too much seriocity. Lighten up, folks. Just having some fun.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 No Jim, not all MILB stats are misleading, if you believe that, I don't know what to tell ya. You are right, not all. 70-80% of minor leaguers are unfinished products.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 You are right, not all. 70-80% of minor leaguers are unfinished products. Obviously, or busts.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 You are right, not all. 70-80% of minor leaguers are unfinished products. I'd say more than that. And even the ones that are finished products are often AAAA players that put up great AAA numbers but have shown that they can't take that final step to productive ML player. MILB stats really aren't good for much. I think strikeout numbers can often translate from MILB to ML. Possibly walks, but even then, there's a world of difference between control and command. A pitcher can have good control (throws strikes) but mediocre command (can throw it where he wants within the strike zone). That is the biggest thing for pitchers and doesn't reflect in a box score. That needs to be scouted.

Yeah, atrrition rate is low, many guys become relievers or platoon hitters, late inning defensive replacements etc, but the whole Stroman didn't pitch well in Buffalo thing was dumn.
