Delabar:

“There’s nothing I’ve been told to do,” he said. “There’s been no communication at all. They never directly said, ‘Hey, here’s what you need to do.’ They just said, ‘Hey, we’ve got to make a move for Sanchez.’ ”

He is less sanguine about his demotion than Loup. Last year he was shocked at what he felt was an injustice when he was sent down. Now he tries to focus on his daily routine and ignore the Jays’ exploits.

semi-related question: If Delabar doesn't make the playoff roster (he obviously won't), is he still allowed to hang with the team in the dugout during the playoffs?

If Delabar don't like it, he can go back to teaching high school, or whatever he was doing.

If he were a top 7 bullpen arm he'd be here. He isn't.

Whats that go to post it reminder Price has stuck on his locker?...I think it says "Don't like whats happening?...PITCH BETTER".

Delabar sounds pissed. I don't understand keeping Schultz over delabar though.

Shultz throws 98 for strikes. Delaber throws 94 for balls.

Also Hutchison comments:

http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2015/08/23/hutchison-knows-he-gave-jays-a-reason-to-ship-him-to-buffalo.html

"Whenever you are in a position that I’m in — or really, any athlete — you can’t give anybody a reason to send you out. And given my inconsistencies earlier in the year, I had done that.”

That is a good quote. Players like Price and Donaldson no longer get sent to the minors except for rehab.

I am looking forward to seeing Hutchison back with the Blue Jays.

Delabar would be a decent pen arm on a contending team. Just there are 7 better guys ahead of him here in Toronto. He should be up in September. Hes not a bad guy to use in blowouts. He still has swing and miss stuff.

I say we let Deli go and pickup Rodney! Seriously, how the f*** did the M's never catch Rodney tipping his pitches?

Please no. I don't want to cheer for that asshat

Not this year really, and schultz throws hanging sliders for HR's. A bit worrying the Org does not communicate with it's players if true, didn't Norris say something similar?

If your a big league pitcher and don't know what you need to work on, you aren't doing your job. Watch the videos, look at the stats. Delabar is an obvious one even to the casual fan. Stop missing the strike zone.

Was just about to post something like this. They know exactly what they need to work on. Delabar needs to work on FB command. In, out...up, and down in the strikezone. He doesn't know that? Tell him to check any Blue Jays forum on the internet to see what he needs to work on.

When was the last time Rodney threw a strike.....I think tipping pitches is not the major problem with him, control is

His walk rate this year is pretty much in line with his career, but he's striking out less and giving way more longballs. He'll get a shot in the bigs somewhere.

This makes me respect Hutchison so much more. I would have thought he would just sulk and be angry, but he seems to be taking a positive attitude and accepting responsibility for his performance issues on the road.

Delabar on the other hand...seems like he thinks he's entitled to be in the big leagues. Sure, it's just a quote that could be misrepresented by the writer, but the fact that he even said that out loud, to a person with a pen in their hand, knowing it was going to be quoted, suggests to me that he's bitter enough that he can't keep it to himself. I wouldn't want him back if he's going to have an attitude problem, whether he externalizes it or not. There's been way too much negativity around this team in years past, we have some good mojo going now, don't want anyone around that could even slightly disrupt it.

Any reliever with options or without a big contract who gets surprised/upset/butthurt at getting sent down/cut is pretty much an ignoramus.

Being said, Delabar's comments are fine IMO. He was probably asked a direct question - "have you been told to work on anything in particular?".

In Hayhurst's second book, he relates calling his agent angry after being demoted and his agent tell him to f***in' relax. The quote is something to the effect of "I get this call at least once from every single reliever. This happens to everybody and doesn't mean anything as far as how the club values you. If they really didn't value you, they'd cut you altogether."

I'm just saying Delabar has a better track record of success. Schultz is not a guy.

Delabar = no control, longballs, can give you 2 innings

Schultz = good control, lots of longballs, can give you 2 innings

I'd pick Schultz merely cause of his lower WHIP, so you don't get hurt as much on the donger

I guess you could say I'm like Delabar then as I have no control, long balls and my wife does get hurt by the donger from time to time :)

Doesn't last long and has been a massive disappointment

Tulo has put up 0.7 WAR in only 22 games, he's been great. And that's when his bat hasn't been it's usual self, it's gonna be a ton of fun when he gets locked in offensively. Amazing pickup.

I found that even during his all-star campaign Delabar still had poor command of his fastball (4.45 BB/9 as an ~allstar~). He just had that nasty splitter working for him and K'd a bunch of guys. Now he's striking out even less guys with more or less the same mediocre command, I don't blame the Jays for keeping him in AAA.
