G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 yes... we should discuss the repercussions. lol thread has been a bit of fun and given the jays fans a chance to gang up on hurl and BTS. all good fun. TRM Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 we give the fantasy guys a hard time now and then, but it's in jest and mostly because some of you guys are just to uptight. "the fantasy guys" !!!!
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 "the fantasy guys" !!!! yupp! and they know who they are. lol fantasy guys have been creeping out of the Off Topic section more and more as the season gets more interesting. King is always here, Spanky is always here, but a lot of them don't show up often in the GDT.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 dude, most of us 'fantasy guys' have been on this and the old board as long/longer than you. We generally just can't stomach the main forum because its full of troglodytes. OT board has more intelligent baseball threads than the main board. Albeit not BJ's focused

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Rays 1998-today: 1325-1534 .463 Runs for: 12603 Runs Against: 13682 Differential: -1079 Jays 1998-today: 1428-1432 .499 Runs for: 13817 Runs against: 13478 Differential: +339 The Jays have clearly been the better team since the Rays came into existence. Can't help the fact that the team has just been lucky to not quite suck enough to sneak into the playoffs a couple of times. Let's be fair for a second and consider that Tampa had some expansion years to go through....so let's compare their meager existence to the Jays' first 18 seasons: 1462-1492 .495 Runs for: 13150 Runs against: 13180 Differential: -30 World Series: 2 vs. 0 Again, there's no comparison. Blue Jays are clearly the better team no matter what kind of historical comparison you want to make. Saying a team has "the longest drought in all of pro sports" is very misleading. Unless you have scoured every European soccer league to ensure that claim is true, then I assume you mean out of the 4 major North American ones. Now of course in the NBA and NHL half (or more) of the teams make it to the playoffs since 1993 so those comparisons aren't even appropriate. Up until recently the Royals and Pirates had longer droughts and had winning percentages reflective of their futility over those years. Just because on August 4, 2015 your statement may be true doesn't make the Blue Jays a bad franchise. If in two months from now if the Jays are still playing does that automatically take them from 30th rank in MLB to a 10-way tie for first with the other teams that made the playoffs? 120 games over .500 since dropping the Devil. Would like to point out that the mastermind of those wonderful numbers you posted above was hired by your GM. :::hip thrusts::: (f*** I'm too old for this, BTS give em three hip thrusts for me) I want to remind everyone that the Jays finish with 6 of their last 9 games against the Rays. Even if we drop out of the picture this still might end up fun for BTS and I. PS. European Soccer doesn't exist and European Football doesn't have playoffs.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I have to say that Mods should have an un-delete feature as RJF's post was a good one. My guess is that after he wrote it he read the part where I said that the Rays play the Jays 6 of the last 9, and he was a little worried about the karma. The "boring" players like Keirmaier, Longo and Archer look forward to meeting the Jays with the playoffs on the line.

The "boring" players like Keirmaier, Longo and Archer look forward to meeting the Jays with the playoffs on the line. Not worried. It was a very drunk rant so I'm surprised the post was readable lol. My post was basically that there is very little reason (IMHO) to like the Rays. You told me that you had a good experience with them which is cool, but I find it hilarious that some people can actually get on board with a team who has very few fans and will likely move, plays in the worst stadium in baseball, and has boring players. I like Keirmaier, you might say he's boring because he doesn't have a lot of upside with his bat but defensively he's entertaining. I've stated before that I find Longoria to be an incredibly boring player. Regardless every team has some exciting players, so to name a few doesn't mean they're an exciting team. Asdrubal Cabrera, James Loney, John Jaso, Logan Forsythe, etc etc are not fun players to watch to me. Maybe you guys are different or just trolling but I don't see the appeal of the Rays. If you're obsessed with $$$$/WAR then maybe you think they have a well managed franchise, but that's not appealing IMO.

Ah man you'd seriously hope that the Rays would spoil a playoff bid for the Jays so some teams like the Orioles could get in?

I said at the start of the season that barring the Rays making the playoffs...a successful season would be the Rays costing the Jays the playoffs. I don't like the O's at all still, but I don't have to live in a city with them.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Why are you a member of a Blue Jays forum community? Can I answer for Hurl? Because he's been posting on the forum for like 10 years, knows a lot of posters personally, is involved in the forum fantasy leagues (which are amazing btw - you'd have a hard time finding better anywhere else), because there are a lot of very smart people who post here, and because it's silly to say that people who like different teams to varying degrees can't post on the same message board.

Agreed, Ive never learned so much on baseball then the Jays' forum. Regarding fans of other teams, the mutual jabbing back and forth is fine, but the venom is stupid. Turns this place into Oriloles Hangout. AND NO ONE WANTS THAT s***.
