Depends on how they do against the yankees. we have 7 against NY. if we win 5 then maybe 92 is enough. if we lose 5 then it will probably be 95. Yanks have a better schedule.

how do the Yankees have a better schedule?

both teams have 18 home games left.

both teams play mostly the East plus Atlanta.

the Jays have 6 against the Tigers & Tribe,

while the Yankees have 7 against the Mets & White Sox.

STFU, wow just wow, I hope the New Mods have you in their sights! Lock Load kaboom!

Jack you're Dead !!! Lol

As one of the new mods in question, Trouba hasn't come close to anything I would consider banworthy...

How old are you?

The real question is "how much rum have you had?"

Trouba's relentless negativity is really tiresome but he has a right to post it, IMO. He's really not all that offensive.

Yeah if anything the Jays have an easier schedule. Glad we are done with the Mets, that will be a rough series for the Yankees.

Yup. He is a real fan...wants Jays to win badly....just very chicken little. Probably has no fingernails left.

This Jays team is bad ass. We are the ones OTHER TEAMS are afraid of.

No, the Jays haven't pulled away, they only come back from 7 GB....

Thank you. Finally, somebody gets it. We haven't "pulled away" because we were seven or eight games behind in late July. Now we're a game and a half ahead. A nine game swing in the standings in one month is massive. If both teams keep up that pace, we win the division by double digits. Obviously, we're not going to sustain this pace, but does anyone really expect the Yankees to go better than 22-14 (.611) the rest of the way? It's not looking too likely. I would say this is best-case scenario for them, as they have been fading pretty badly. That puts them at 91 wins, so if we go 21-14 (.600) to finish at 92 wins, the division is likely ours. But to be honest, I doubt the Yankees win 90.

Even if the Yankees were to go on an unexpected hot streak, the Jays would have WC #1 pretty much to themselves while 5 teams are crawling all over each other to come up with #2. If the Yankees were to pull away and the Jays were 3 games behind them in the standings and 3 games up on WC #2 in the last few days of the regular season, they can set up their rotation so that Price pitches at home against one of 5 teams where the Jays have gone a combined 26-19 against them, 15-9 at home, and who likely would not have the chance to set up their rotation optimally. Take away the Rays and O's from the equation as the two least likely teams to make it and that record gets even better. The Jays are in a very good position right now, whether they take the division or not. Of course we would rather have them just take the division so the team can set its rotation optimally for the ALDS and have home field advantage.

Thanks for the concern but I am fine. Also learn how months work, I joined early July it's been near 2 months now.

22 years of mediocrity has made me this way. Won't believe until we clinch. And yes...this is a very good team.

No Tex likely in tonight's lineup, and possibly no Tex for awhile.. if he goes on the DL and A-Rod doesn't rebound, you can pretty much hand the Blue Jays the division..

It really doesn't matter what we think or say...it wont affect the outcome.

So might as well be more positive and optimistic with a very good team. Just sayin'

ya think there's any realistic chance that we can be 8 up on the Yanks before we embark on the final 7 game road trip of the season?

with the amazing electricity/atmosphere in the stadium right now (near the end of August), it's a shame that we likely won't be in position to experience the glorious pandemonium of clinching the division on home turf.

Posted

I say why not? We keep trucking and doing what we've been doing and go 21-6. The Yankees hit a rough patch and go 13-15 and there you have it. We'd be 91-64 and they'd be 83-72, with 7 left.

Not likely of course but within the realm of possibility.
