closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Stroman Hutch Osuna ----- ----- Dickey has said he doesnt want to play here next year. MB is done. Price wont be resigned. Estrada is a JA Happ type that will demand a lot of money based on 1 good season.... there should be dozens of pitchers like him available. Normally I would say we would have to trade for pitching, but im hoping some of the moves AA has made will convince pitchers we want to win.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Samardzija Stroman Hutchison Chen Osuna depth depth depth
Caper Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Dickey has said he doesnt want to play here next year. . Who gives a f*** what he says? If he is pitching well, he's staying.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Samardzija Stroman Hutchison Chen Osuna depth depth depth I can't see Samardzija wanting to come here. He made it known last year he was relieved not to be traded to Toronto.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Losing Romero money and potentially not having Dickey back, I think you push for one of the huge aces.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Sanchez WILL start next year or be traded. I'm sure he will start here. Just not counting on the guy to be a top starter. Hopefully a really good 4th starter.

With how good the team will be that might have changed. This should be a contender next year. I'd rather get someone else though.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Anyone suggesting we will sign Price is out of their mind. Jays ownership is not going to give him the 5+ years and Scherzer ish like money. I'm ok with that. We will have to target a front end rotation SP and look at moving Osuna into that roll and hope that Stro is what we think he is. RA has been on an excellent roll and as bad as he was to start the year, AA will be forced to consider the option. Mark B won't be back and I will miss him. For now, focus is on making a run 2015 where it should be. This is now a vastly improved team over 2014.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Syndergaard Stroman Norris Hutch Sanchez Oh wait that's what it would have been

SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Price is getting 200M+ over 7+ years, and Buehrle probably won't be back, whether it be a disinterest from the Jays side, or a desire to stay with his dogs and his family on his side. Doesn't matter anyway, too early to talk about the 2016 rotation. The focus of both the team and the fans should be on this year. Agree 110%, I just watched 4 of the most entertaining games in a long time, we're about to start Price in huge series TOMORROW...f*** next year. We got the off season to worry about that, for once we got real baseball to enjoy from an incredibly entertaining team. Playoffs!!!
billjc33 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 clarification. If MB is offered his qualifying offer what are his options? And what do we get?
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 clarification. If MB is offered his qualifying offer what are his options? And what do we get? He can stay for 1 year and about 16 mil. He can decline and become a free agent, the jays then get a draft pick in the 30 something range after he signs with his new team.
admin Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I know many will disagree but I hope this team does everything it can to try and keep Price here. A legit #1 just gives you a bit of comfort every five days. Was so nice when we had Halladay.

He's not going to be in the league for much longer, so it's not like he going to reject the offer and have another team sign him for 1 or 2 years, where said team has to lose a draft pick. Not many teams will be lining up for that deal. He might just look at the team, think it might be stacked offensively and stick around. So here is how I see the rotation. Stroman Buehrle Osuna Dickey Estrada

Then you have to deal with the 3 or 4 years after that where he is making 25 million a year and pitching like a #5.
admin Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Price is too good, he'll be solid for atleast another five years. It's too bad we had to get rid of Norris.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Price is too good, he'll be solid for atleast another five years. It's too bad we had to get rid of Norris. Verlander was a nice reminder for me as to how dangerous pitching contracts are. Guy was an absolute stud with no history of arm troubles. Then he died.
admin Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Yeah I know it's probably not the best investment, but I just want an ace so bad lol. Sabathia is another example. So tired of not knowing what version of our pitcher we are going to get for that specific day.
fapaholic Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Would it be a bad investment if he helped us win a couple world titles? This team is almost as good as any right now and could be for two or 3 more years.

We gave up Norris who looked great in his first outing....We better try to sign him or go on a good playoff run, or the price trade is not worth it imo.

Price & Stroman would be a treat to watch Given the fact we gave away Norris and Hoffman and we have money coming off the books to chase a FA pitcher, I don't see why we wouldn't atleast try at Price. He isn't rep'd by Boras, who knows it might not be so bad.

A legit #1 just gives you a bit of comfort every five days. Was so nice when we had Halladay. Not me, this team is A WS favourite if price returns next year. IF we don;t go on a run or re-sign price it is a bad trade imo. We should try to retain price.

Guy was an absolute stud with no history of arm troubles. Then he died. What about Halladay? Do you trade him rather than sign him if your team is hoping to contend for the next 3-5 years? Now switch back to Price without the option to trade him.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Syndergaard Stroman Norris Hutch Sanchez Oh wait that's what it would have been Not many prospects pan out period. Even fewer reach their ceiling. Almost none make it to be #1/2 starting pitchers. Even if you correctly predicted and retained all of these prospects there is no way they would all get the development time, encouragement, and opportunities to build their confidence and hone their skills to all be #1 material (look at the EDM Oilers...) Stroman only got his break after Morrow went down last year. Sanchez is locked up in the pen. Hutch is struggling. Norris would not get as good a look as he is going to get in Detroit for quite a while considering he was struggling at AAA. Alvarez got his opportunity being traded to the Marlins out of the playoff picture giving Alvarez plenty of low pressure time to develop and succeed. You get the idea...
