The pre-humidor days were truly ridiculous, but also that was the apex of the steroid era, where pretty much every team had multiple 40 HR hitters.

Smoak is very head ups on the defensive side of the ball. There was a play the other day that was a bang bang decision on a bunt and he made a very nice judgement call to let it go foul. These plays won't get measured.

Well now you're seeing Colabello's 500 innings as relevant but ignored Smoak's 7.2/150 for this year @ 500 innings. Again, Smoak has had 1 bad year that has directly influenced his UZR, 5 of 6 have been positive. Call me when Colabello catches a fly ball, looking up is a thing.

Yeah just a weird confluence of circumstances. Second most offensive ballpark of all time (after Mile High Stadium) and most offensive era of all times. The scenario is basically impossible to recreate in today's baseball. Going to be a statistical outlier for a long, long time.

The WOP can hit, sample is large enough. Smoak has looooong swing, but does have power. Colobello's bat is far superior, especially since he uses the whole field. When doing so, even his outs have way more weight of being productive vs Smoak's.
