admin Site Manager Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 At what point does this organization realize he shouldn't be on the field? Peaked June 19th hitting .350/.392 . Before today's game he's down to .312/.356. That's 25 games in which he's hitting .225/.278 with below average defense, of course. Appreciate what he's done, but it's time to go.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I don't really mind Colabello on the bench, but Smoak should definitely be playing 1st.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 He'll last until he hits about .250. Calculate how long it'll take for that...
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Definitely one of AA's weaknesses is giving hacks like him extended time at the big league level. Any value Colabello brought to this team, he's pissed away.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 This makes me nuts. Colla gave us more than we could have ever asked for. But after AA speaking in off season about the revelation that D matters and renewed emphasis with Martin etc playing Colla on the field is egregious. The ONLY way he can play is off the field against LHP and on the field @ 1st if he is mashing which is he no longer is. Loved the guy and the story and thanks for the big knocks, but it's time to move on. D matters.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Surely the team can trade Colabello for a reliever better than Tepera, right? Make that deal and call up Pompey. Problem solved. Pompey everyday in left, Valencia plays first in a platoon with Smoak, and Carrera can make stupid decisions as a fourth OF.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Batting 4th...your starting 1st baseman....CC... Fire Gibbons
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Yep, Smoak playing first base should be a done deal. Gibbons doesn't make any sense.

I just hope Gibby puts him on the bench and starts Smoak already. Holy f*** I can't believe he's been rotting on the bench. If anything just platoon him if you want to make sure Collabello gets some looks in
admin Site Manager Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Drives me insane that they'll see his BA at .300+ and think that warrants playing time.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Drives me insane that they'll see his BA at .300+ and think that warrants playing time. Would be nice if the Phillies would take him in a deal for Revere.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Don't worry, we'll flip him to the Phillies in the Revere deal.
admin Site Manager Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Said Jays should get Revere a week ago. Bet AA reads the forum and values my opinion.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Colabello's walk-up music should be: I actually like that he's kept for his entire career. Edited July 31, 2015 by KingKat
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Colabello's walk-up music should be: That would make killer walk up music for anyone, actually...

I'd be surprised if a single team was interested in trading for him.
admin Site Manager Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Mark this down, first time in my life I've been wrong. .444/.474 in 36abs since I made this thread. Maybe he reads the forum and I motivated him!

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Why does everyone want him to fail.......... f***, comprehension is hard.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 There isn't a single Blue Jay fan that actively roots for Colabello to strikeout when he's up to bat. What many posters around here want is for others to accept that what he's done so far isn't indicative of his true talent level. Just because he's hit .330/.372/.521 on a .400 BABIP doesn't mean we should expect him to continue hitting like that. With a FO that has a history of making poor roster decisions and ignoring things like roster flexibility, it's easy to see why some fans might welcome some regression from Colabello.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Colabello has hit at a high BABIP in the past as well. Clearly a .400 BABIP is not sustainable, nevertheless, projections have him as an above average hitter. And since he's been moved to 1B his WAR has started to climb a little (as his defense is no longer completely offsetting his offense). A torrid August may also have something to do with this. What projections have him as an above average hitter?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 What projections have him as an above average hitter? All the systems at Fangraphs see him as an above average bat.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 All the systems at Fangraphs see him as an above average bat. Going forward? Practically league average.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Going forward? Practically league average. 109 wRC+ by Steamer is not practically league average
