Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Barry Davis Sanchez is coming up next week. Will pitch out of pen in Buffalo Tuesday then join #bluejays and pitch out of pen.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 this only makes sense if the jays deal for a starter. Can we make the trade already

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 this only makes sense if the jays deal for a starter. Can we make the trade already Clearly its a sellers market and the prices are extreme.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Considering AA's recent and repetitive comments that Sanchez was still being brought back as a starter, it might be safe to assume that they feel they're close to acquiring a starter.
tercet Verified Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 It's stupid he should just stay in the minors and work on three things. 1. Throw Strikes 2. Get out LHB 3. Raise his SwStr% He won't come anywhere to his 2014 luck fest
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 wait and see. Goodbye Norris, Pompey, Hoffman Been a big proponent of going for it this season but that's just too steep if no control. Which is why we haven't got it done.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 it's a good move. I know everyone wants to take Hutch and Dickey out and put them to the pastures but you can't really do so after their last starts. Dickey you can't put in the BP, though Hutch you can demote. But Sanchez addresses an area that we can fix without giving up players.

Yeah, I agree. The comments seemed to be pretty set before. I'd also say it means they probably aren't looking to pick up someone like Papelbon (which I'm happy about given his contract).
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 good move, gives gibby less options to f*** up late in the game. I'd imagine Tepera will be sent down
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Unless they acquire a better starter, Sanchez should not be in the pen.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I miss Scott Downs. The guy was a rock solid late inning reliever those years with the Jays. The one thing I loved about JPR was his ability to construct an inexpensive solid bullpen.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Maybe he will be used as a multiple inning type of guy? I'd prefer that he be kept in minors to develop as SP, but they gave up on developing him last season when they promoted him without really deserving it.

They're using Hendriks as a long reliever and Tepera as a high-leverage guy. Misuse is a problem.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 My guess is Sanchez to the pen and Norris to the rotation.
MagicMike Verified Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm lost. Who's our fifth starter then, because so far they've all been s***.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm lost. Who's our fifth starter then, because so far they've all been s***. A 5th SP is just that. Very few teams, if any, have a solid 1-5.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm lost. Who's our fifth starter then, because so far they've all been s***. No s***...including Sanchez.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Still... this seems pretty odd unless we have reinforcements incoming
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 No s***...including Sanchez. Lol so much dumnn
ColdPint Verified Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm lost. Who's our fifth starter then, because so far they've all been s***. Yeah...not sure I'm a fan of this one. Do the Jays see Sanchez as a part of the future rotation or are they looking at it as a failed experiment? As bad as he was the first part of the year he really started to put it together his last 4-5 starts before the lat injury. He probably was our most reliable arm there for a stretch. Unless this move is to prevent him from further injury and they don't think he can hold up to the grind of being in the rotation. A bit of a head scratcher.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 So, Norris unless a trade happens

Sanchez was going to be the team's closer before Stroman went down, so I think they always viewed him in the pen, at least in 2015. Why they did it now when they have Doubront as their current fifth starter is the question. Regardless, maybe another arm in the pen that Gibbons trusts will prevent him from doing so much derpy decision making. Of course, Sanchez will actually have to do well out of the pen, and coming off injury, that's not a guarantee.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 One...maybe two...but no way all three are gone...unless it's 2 huge deals. And even then, nope. Isn't Norris the only one realistically evaluated as a 60 FV? The others are good and valuable but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 You really think they're gonna deal our Top 3 prospects in a deadline deal? I don't see it. Maybe something huge in the off-season but not now. Not for a rental like Cueto, but if there is decent control it wouldn't surprise me. Norris continues to have command issues in Buff.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 My guess would be that Gibbons asked for Sanchez to be moved to pen and I think BD tweeted a quote from Gibbons about winning games when they have a lead. How about using your relievers properly Gibby?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 wait and see. Goodbye Norris, Pompey, Hoffman For Cueto?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 This is Dumb if True ! So much dumb, dumb and dumber part duex. Un f***ing believeable this teams management.
