Why dont you just say the truth

The truth is that in your attempt to simply the game of baseball, you and those like you have adapted a numbers based system that you can live with, stripping the human element out of the game which you dont understand. The problem is that it takes an understanding of baseball, experience, and careful examinations to understand the subjective element. It takes time and fangraphs to understand numbers. Since the former you can never have, the latter's value you exemplify.

Go to vegas and start betting money on baseball games, since you understand the human element you will have a slight advantage over the numbers based Vegas odds. You will win some and lose some but over time you will make gains and you can feed them back into larger bets. The only limit to the amount of money you make is that at some point you will become large enough to actually effect the odds.

If you have a system to predict the outcome of baseball games, a system that goes beyond numbers and gives you an advantage that others do not have, you can and should make money off of it.

Sigh...at this thread. Has a team ever fired their manager in the midst of an extended winning streak? JG is not largely responsible for this streak, just like he wasn't the reason they were 7 games under .500.

My opinion....his choice to have 0 backup middle infielders and the stupid move of the night to play no homers defense.

I didn't mind any of his moves tonight, that's my opinion.

The issues I had with this game are:

1) Reyes and his derp arm throwing error

2) Cecil walking a batter after Cola made that great play

3) Overall poor plate discipline by most of the Blue Jays hitters

4) Hendriks poor first pitch to Flores

What's the point of Carrera playing with his hand on the wall when we need one out? I understand playing deeper than usual but not that deep.

That's a no-doubles situation. You ALWAYS play deep there.

Even still, the base coaches are supposed to be positioning the OF/IN. Gibby can't do everything.

And how is that Gibbons fault though? The base coaches are supposed to be positioning the OF/IN. Gibby can't do everything.

No but he is responsible. And that was beyond no doubles defense

He wouldn't have caught this anyways when I saw the defense against Duda it was pretty obvious he was going to try to go the other way. I wished Cecil would have walked him and stayed in the game to face the next guy

Why let their best hitter beat you anyways.

He would have had a shot...not a good one. Buy the play at the plate would have been easy to make if they even run there

There's no way that Cuddyer should have scored from first even on that lucky bloop. Carrera from short left field should be able to make a stronger throw and if Donaldson catches the ball he would have thrown out Cuddyer. There were mistakes from far too many players defensively to blame this game on the manager....

No it wasn't. He was shaded well to centre because of who was batting. You play deep no doubles in that situation every single time.

This part I agree with... I couldn't believe he scored from first...

I think its time to end this thread, because Gibbons isnt going to get fired. Not since Jays are now within 1 game of the WC and 2 games of the division. The rest of the season will depend upon whether Dickey and Hutch recover and if AA is able to acquire serious pitching talent. If that doesn't happen, Jays will be .500 and Gibby AA and company will not be back anyways.

It was worth it when things were bad, now things have improved to the point where Gibby AA and the Beest are off the hot seat. Once Again. In Hingsight all the trades were great for AA after all its 2015 and he is still the General Manager of a baseball team, having accomplished absolutely nothing in that tenure.

What a surprise that Dumbf*** McGoo decides to bump this thread the first loss after 11 straight wins...for no real reason other than he's mad the Jays won't win every single remaining game and he's too stupid to assign blame properly.

Man, even I don't blame Gibbons for last night. The hick will do something stupid eventually, we don't have to reach for them after a loss.

a couple of games late ... but congratulations to John for managing his 1000th game in the big leagues!

looking forward to seeing Gibby getting drenched with champagne in the clubhouse in October.

A back up catcher at DH in place of a hot offensive player (Smoak). A LOOGY being used for a full inning. Tepera being called in to face Machado in a high pressure spot. Par for the course.

It sickens me when people here make sarcastic comments when the Jays win by 10 runs, somehow absolving Gibbons of any incompetence, but we have a shitload of close games that show he has no business managing when the games on the line.

Surprised Gibby hasn't used Navarro as a relief pitcher since he doesn't know how to use them.

his use is giving Martin a break once a week and occasionally pinch hitting. That's it, how many times do we have to see a guy with a career OPS under .700 DHing? I'd rather just DH Colabello and start Carrera in LF if you want Edwin at first, so much dumb...

I agree, there is no defending navarro being the DH. Gibby has cost the jays some wins this year despite what some blind homers spew here.

How about we place Some blame on the players who are actually determining the outcome. Loup needs to quit being so s*** and the team has to do a better job being patient with runners in scoring position rather then going up hacking at s***.
