True. Although, many here are focusing on the BP when the offense was bad in this one.

 

We'll see what happens.

 

Offense was bad...bullpen was pathetically bad

Those are games you just have to win. Gonna look back at the end of the season and all of these games they should have won will come back to haunt them.

 

YEah there have been too many of these this year, it happens to all teams but it is way too common with the jays. Their 1 run game record shows that, and it's how they lose them that makes them tough to watch.

If we are not going to acquire a couple good bullpen pieces we'll need to score 6 runs every game.

If Navarro's hit was 3 feet to the left he would of been the hero that won them the game.

 

And that changes he should not be DH'g over smoak how? Even if he won the game navarro should never be the DH.

close game late innings is an automatic loss for the Jays. what a shame to waste this great offense.

When you fail to score with runners at 1st and 3rd (2nd inning) and with the bases loaded (8th inning) and no outs, yes that has a big effect on the game.

 

With a lead, Gibbons may have used the BP differently.

I think the Colabello problem came to play in the SF that scored the tying run rather than the 1st inning 2b by Machado. That ball hit high off the wall, I doubt Carrera gets it.

 

The point does stand though.

 

I'm just lashing out I suppose but a good outfielder gets to the wall early and makes the play. Imo,

YEah cannot blame the bullpen for this one really, even know they were bad, this is on the poor at bats with runners on less then 2 outs.

YEah but all they needed was a fly ball or contact in several situations today, really bad at bats chasing pitches out of the zone.

 

Yup Loup is the shitest good reliever in Baseball.

 

YEah when Loup is no longer a Jay I won't be mad.

Maybe. The ball did hit high off the wall which would've required a tall OF and a well-timed jump.

 

 

As I said though, Carrera would've had a better chance at throwing out the runner on the SF since Colabello didn't set up properly, which is understandable given that he's not an OF.

they would've won the game in the bottom of the 9th if the BP didnt blow it. are you defending this s*** bullpen? the offense is gonna have off nights it happens to every offense in the history of baseball.

To be fair Loup was bad. He seems to have a knack for hitting batters in the worst situations.

So they would've remained tied till the 25th inning or something?

 

I'm saying they played a big part in the loss just like Loup. You can't win them all, move on.

The BP was bad doesn't change the fact that today the offense was bad? It being a good Offense has nothing to do with how they performed today, we all know te BP sucks. Those at bats with runners on were hard to watch. No one said every offense doesn't struggle at times, nice strawman. The offense was a big part of the loss today, it happens. BP sucks but thats on AA>

 

If they scored a run in the 8th, Hendriks comes in and it might be a totally different game. All they needed was a fly ball.

With his delivery, you actually expect him to hit lhh. As I said earlier, I expected them to throw high and in to Davis instead of another slider. Instead, they tried to pitch inside to Flaherty for some reason.

 

 

I also thought, if you're gonna let Loup face Joseph, why not let him face Machado since the damage was done, but anyway.

Which is based on hindsight. Who knows, had they taken the lead in the 8th when they had the bases loaded and 0 outs, the 8th might've been managed differently.

 

 

All in all, they deserved to lose. Move on and take the series tomorrow.

I'm known as a Hendriks hater and I would have trusted him in the 9th. The entire mood would change if we scored. Them getting out of that jam jacked up the entire team. Ofcourse it doesn't help when Gibbons doesn't bring in a RHP to face Joseph.
