Considering he is or was without a computer, he did a great job of responding quickly to my letting him know (I didn't know until around 7:00)

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Congrats to the team today, and thank you Cubs! Royals can #FYSMC. I'm new here, but not a casual, I assure you lol. I was thinking about 2016, namely the rotation, and was talking with my brother about potential trades AA could make in the off-season to rectify it. My main target would be Carlos Carrasco. His peripherals are fantastic and his contract provides excellent WAR value, as you all know I'm sure. Near the trade deadline, rumors seemed to indicate that a Hoffman, Norris, Pompey package nearly got it done, but ultimately was rejected because they wanted Stro, possibly in place of Hoff? Well, given that they were our 3 best prospects at the time, but, debatably, not major league ready yet, at that point, what could Alex offer to maybe get it done? Would it take a similar package to what landed JD? I would offer Revere, Sanchez, Hutch, and Greene. Do you guys think that would do it, or would selling high on Pillar (in place of Revere, with his 4 WAR) and adding Cola help get it done? If they laugh this off, what do you gents think it would take?

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 ^ Must have been weird hanging out in a GDT thread with really, really ugly people who post naked.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Was that ever a long 24-36 hrs off the board... What happened?
NJay Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Am I right in that the magic number is 2? Also, what is the difference between the 1 and 2 seed as to who we play or could play in the ALDS? I know the ramifications for the ALCS. Thanks.

Thanks. #1 seed gets us home field advantage through the World Series, and a date with either the Yankees or 2nd wild card team(Texas, Houston, LA or Minnesota). #2 seeds gets the AL West winner and home field for the ALDS.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. My confusion was that I thought the rule was a division winner and wildcard could not play in the divisional round if from the same division and therefore we could not play the yanks assuming they win the play-in. I must have created that rule in my mind. Thanks again for the info.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 #1 seed does not get the team homefield in the world series. The A.L winning the all star game did. #1 seed is for the ALCS.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 This is it. One Jays win and a Yankees loss wins us a trip to the ALDS. Have fun in the wild card game, Yankees fans. Now we need help from the White Sox..

TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 There were several write-up of him in the LA Times while he was with the Dodgers. The rep on him was that he would go out drinking and clubbing after the game and that wore on his game the following day. Back in those days, it seemed he was quite the wild child... A buddy of mine saw him out boozing at 2:30 am the night before his massive HR vs the Yankees. Didn't affect him I guess.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Weirdest game ever without the board but a really f***ing good night for the Blue Jays. Yup. Got a glimpse into what life would be like in the zombie apocalypse when there is no TBJMB and it wasn't pretty. Great game(s) though. A Jays come from behind win off O'Day - Yanks and KC lose.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 One thing that annoys me a bit with the situation tonight is that if we win and Yankees lose again, then the decisive moment may come down to which of the two teams wins/loses first on the night. It could possibly mean that we might win first and Yankees might lose a bit later in the night, which would rob us of any kind of on-field celebration for the second straight time (we already didn't get one for the playoff clinch due to all the confusion over permutations, although the celebration wouldn't really have been big). If it does happen tonight then I wish that Yankees game finishes first. I know caring about this is a bit silly but I actually want to see our boys celebrate out on the field this time! (doing it in Baltimore makes it sweeter too).
NJay Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I'm not sure how I feel about playing the Yankees in the divisional round. Plus I think the Yankees beat Kansas City if they play in the divisional round. I guess it all depends upon pitching matchups with the AL West in a five game series as to whether there is a huge advantage over a one or two seed. But I also would much rather play Kansas City at home in game one.

This story on why he left the celebration says little.

Most famous people aren't able to recover under the radar anymore.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 The Yankees are better than the Royals, Rangers, and Astros, so yeah that would be a nervous first round opponent. But hey, the goal is to finish with the best record. The Cardinals can't sweat the Pirates or Cubs. The Jays have to finish strong and then let the chips fall where they fall.

Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Is everyone OK? You all survived??? I only tried accessing the board 30 times yesterday. I think I found GSNARLS on twitter but didn't want to question him on the status of the board.
