Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nah, i'd say Heyward goes to the Dodgers, Giants, Yankees, or Seattle. He's good at defence, though
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Disagree. Shapiro is not a fan of splurging on pitching, and I would be shocked if he pushes for resigning Price. Heyward is a far better investment, both in security (unlikely to pull a Verlander) and value (defense is undervalued.) Heyward's batted ball profile would be a terrible fit for this ballpark though. Hits so many balls on the ground that would be turned to outs here. Heyward has so much potential with the bat. If he changed his swing he could be one of the best players in baseball.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Can you provide any link to back this up. I can't find anything online at all. I read it in a Sun article years ago, they were in a coffee shop, talking about him, being born in EY, being raised in Montreal, the riggers of being a catcher, his sobriety, etc, all I know is it's true.

Well I lllllllooooooossssstttt iiiiiiitttttt and the cop got it calmed down. I was watching it all from the non giveaway line up right beside us. I hate people who use kids to try and guilt others. ******* move by that hypocrite.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 So Buehrle is at 191.1 innings now after his start today, I guess his 200 run stops here unless he gets a complete game in his final start due in Tampa... yeah, probably not happening unless we have everything clinched by then (division may be clinched by that point but probably not the first AL overall).
JosJos Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 lol @ barry davis, he got f*** yet again by the blue jays, they have no respect for the dude poor guys
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Will Halladay be our next pitching coach? Or is he the wrong personality for it?? I don't think communication is his strength. Also, he's still good friends with BJ Ryan. Two strikes.

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 He will want to work for the ChiSox I'd think. Or retire completely and stay away from the game. Either seems more likely than working as a coach for Toronto. I think his rescued pitbulls are still not allowed in the TO area, am I correct? Also, it sounds like his family wants to stay in the US. I am 95% certain that he will retire and stay out of baseball. Just a strong hunch.

Love the guy. He is a craftsman and some day Ill talk about him with my kid remembering his stellar career and testament to consistency and guile. Shame it had to end but don't care as I much as I thought. We have a division to close out. I am glad we had him and might even support a QO.

I kind of wished Gibbons waited until the beginning of the inning to give Buehrle the hook, so that he gets the big standing ovation on his way out of what is likely his final home start for the Jays, if not for his career. I guess it would have been awkward with us still being down in the ballgame though. But I guess if you see it another way, it may mean that Gibbons doesn't think this will be his final appearance here and still has a plan to use him in the Post season in whatever way it may be. Thought he actually pitched pretty well today, better than his past few starts for sure in terms of pitch quality and location. Had some bad luck too I feel like the bloop single and the wind carried 2-run HR.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I really don't want him starting any more this season. If the division is clinched, I'm okay with it. I understand if people are more reserved about No. 1 seeding being on the line though. That race will likely come down to the last couple of games.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Depending on what everything looks like by the time his next start comes around, and since he probably won't be in the playoff rotation, I don't see any reason not to give Buehrle the best shot possible at getting his 200 IP. Assuming the division is locked up, I would think Buehrle gets the last start in Tampa and is given every opportunity to go the distance if he can.

Id even give him a couple innings out of the bullpen if he needed it... he might end up there during the playoffs anyway.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 i don't think Papa gives a flying f*** if he hits 200IP or not

baseballsss Verified Member Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 If we clinch he will be pitched out of the bullpen and start one more.. Doubt he makes the rotation for the ALDS so using him to get the IP wouldnt matter
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 There were several write-up of him in the LA Times while he was with the Dodgers. The rep on him was that he would go out drinking and clubbing after the game and that wore on his game the following day. Back in those days, it seemed he was quite the wild child... I read it in a Sun article years ago, they were in a coffee shop, talking about him, being born in EY, being raised in Montreal, the riggers of being a catcher, his sobriety, etc, all I know is it's true.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I tend to agree with it given the kind of guy he is (and also what he said after the game about the playoff rotation). I think this is more of a Gibby thing more than anything else - He's said that he doesn't want the streak to end on his watch. Hate him or love him, that's Gibby for ya i don't think Papa gives a flying f*** if he hits 200IP or not
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 "We'll see if I can get a start [on the last day of the season], if I can talk them into something," Buehrle said. "... If it comes to an end, it comes to an end. The world's not gonna end."

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 I'm surprised that the Jays played, much less won, without our GDT. Well my 24 hour ban for the entire board is over so we can go back to normal now
37stieb Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 So what happen to servers. Yankee hackers bomb the site? Anyway good game tonight. Possbile ALE clinch tomorrow and a rumour of a Tulo return. All and all the server crash was not as bad.

Considering he is or was without a computer, he did a great job of responding quickly to my letting him know (I didn't know until around 7:00)
