bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Can we talk about defined roles in a bullpen? Is this not pretty dumb and ancient thinking by now? Three lefties were coming up in the 8th inning Cecil should have been used no doubt in my mind but because Sanchez is the 'Setup' guy he always gets the 8th?

Not sure if this has merit with regards to his ridiculously low babip, but interesting none the less. http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/150905866/marco-estrada-wins-with-movement-over-velocity

Estrada was known to have an elite change. Is it really better this year? That's less than certain. If we're going to attribute Estrada's babip suppression to the movement on his fastball and changeup than they have to be compared against previous seasons when he wasn't able to suppress babip to see if there's an improvement. Furthermore, you'd have to look at the general relationship between vertical movement and babip to see if that's even a thing. This article raises more questions than it answers but they are good question worth investigating. Someone like North could do a good follow-up on this.

Can't fix stoopid. Of course, those urinals (and the toilets) are expected to be replaced this offseason with automatic fixtures.. they already have them in the 100 level. Still, what an idiot! It's obvious that fan was drunk.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 Rogers is planning for some big time spending this off-season so they have to ask for free labour. You don't know how angry I got when I saw this. This is so much different than some struggling sports org asking for volunteers. Hi Students, I hope you have enjoyed the summer! The fall is quite busy for us here at Rogers with events and we’d love to have some awesome Humber students on site with us. I am inviting you as a Humber College Sport Management or Recreation and Leisure student to be a part of Roger’s volunteer database. Please answer the questions below and e-mail them back to me at: 1. Phone number: 2. Do you have any specific areas of interest for volunteering (ie. A lot of them will feel pressured to do this lest other students get the c.v. edge on them.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 who has the higher OPS this year? Goins or Pillar Goins - .669 Pillar -.663 Pillar is a good defensive CF, but his offence is not good in anyway
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I point this out more to say how s*** Pillar is, not to prop up Goins
Joe Shades Verified Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 What is the outfield next year assuming saunders is healthy, Revere in Center ?. I have seen enough of him in center up close to know he is not good enough there

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Kevin Pillar is an above average CF making peanuts and under control for the foreseeable future. He's not going anywhere, nor do I want him to. If we get Adam Jones then sure, trade him

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Kawasaki getting the start probably means that they don't expect Tulowitzki back for the first playoff round.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 You know it's really a shame Pompey hasn't been starting the odd game to give Pillar some needed rest. He was hitting pretty good midseason and he's been given a heavy workload for a rookie. I don't know if he's burning out but Pompey shouldn't be treated like chopped liver, he can fill in for him just fine and sure as hell can't hit much worse than Pillar has of late.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Kawasaki is getting the start at 2B because Pennington may have the yips or something.. he's really off right now. Also announced, Aaron Sanchez has been demoted out of the 8th inning:

I am pretty sure they are tuning Kawasaki up for the playoffs since Tulowitzki probably won't be ready for the first round.
