Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Thankfully we have Ryan "1.3 war so far" Goins The way goins has played I am not concerned with missing Travis, but I do feel bad for the kid missing the pennant race. Would be great to have his bat.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 So Travis is done for the year then Not according to these Tweets:
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Interesting to see Goins out-hitting Kevin "Always Bats .300" Pillar. Not really, Pillar is not a good hitter.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Goins is a good hitter? maybe not, but his last 30 games he's been a good hitter. He's got a .289/.396/.444 line the last 30.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Not really, Pillar is not a good hitter. Pillar has adapted at every level he's played. Hopefully he learns to recognize pitches that are out of the zone and lays off pitches that are not strikes
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Goins is a good hitter? Reading comprehension issues? Never said he was. Saying someone is hitting better then Pillar doesn't mean anything pillar right now is not a good hitter, where did I say Goins was a good hitter?

If anyone hasn't watched Spartacus, you should. The first few episodes have terrible CGI, but it gets reallllly good after that.

Although the prequel series that aired while he was sick was pretty good.
baubau Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 With all the argument with Smoak (Team SMOAK!!) vs Bello it is pretty funny how often Smoak and Bello go back to back HRs on the days they shift. HR by Smoak in Boston 1st game, nothing in 2nd, then Bello HR in 3rd game. Now Smoak HR in NY game. This has happened a few times through the season. I know we argue who should be playing where but the mix of Bello/Smoak at 1B has provided great offense. Totaling 29 HR & 98 RBI. They are like the 4th head of the Donaldson/Bautista/Eddy 30+ HR, 100+ RBI power.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Can we get a count on the number of times Kevin Barker says "fastbawl" while analyzing Martin's game tonight?
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Blue Jays have three guys in the top five in no doubt home runs (unsurprisingly Donaldson, Joey Bats and EE) and I'm guessing both Donaldson and EE added to their totals tonight. No other team has more than two in the top twenty. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/homeruns_special.php?league=&type=ND

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Looks like lots of rain today lol. If only we saw this coming and had the double header yesterday.. It seems like the new Yankees Stadium was built with a very good drainage system. Although it sounds like there is a 50-50 chance of rain, a thundershower isn't forecast until 7pm, and only during one hour-period - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/new-york-ny/10007/hourly-weather-forecast/349727?hour=6 (hourly forecast) If Estrada pitches quickly, as usual, then I think they can get two games in. I hope pitchers won't waste any time out there today. (source: http://newyorkyankeesfanclub.com/Yankee_Stadium_2.html ) The field is made up of Kentucky bluegrass, the same surface as the previous stadium, which is grown on a 1,300 acres (530 ha) farm in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The grass is equipped with a drainage system (featuring over 14,000 feet (4,300 m) of pipe) that makes the field playable an hour after taking 2 inches (51 mm) of rain. HOT DIGGITY! A doubleheader today!

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I was reading about Votto's suspension, and thinking maybe the Reds might be interested in parting with him. He's expensive, controversial, and the Reds manage their roster like a small market team and may think it's time to get rid of him. Wouldn't he be sweet in a Jays uni? I think he's a tremendous talent. Could you imagine our infield with that guy there?

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Here is a radar map that shows the rain system moving into the new York city area - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/bronx-borough-ny/10461/weather-radar/334650 It looks good for the first game, but it could take hours to wait out rain delays in the second. Hopefully the doubleheader will go tomorrow if not today.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Are they really doing the double header 30 minutes after the first game? With minimal rest in between that's basically an 18 inning game. That off day Monday will be very helpful. A day/nighter would have been better, I think, but the weather might play into that.

On the bright side in that case, maybe it will give Stroman more room for error pitching since he'll be fresh and the hitters won't be...
