Jealous? He's delighted that JD, TT and the other additions are here..... It is September and we lead the division playing meaningful baseball, he just wants to contribute and help us win.

He gets mad when he has a bad game because he wants to contribute.

So a big fat lonely old zero from me on the jealousy scale.

Why do some folk want to peddle this myth when these are the good times.

Well I can read body language and I'd say he's at least a bit jealous - I think you're being pretty naive if you think a player as competitive as JB is not jealous of someone better than him.

I'm pretty sure Bautista knows he's not the best player in baseball.

he's even advocated for JD as MVP before.

Yes thats true, and last year when the GM did nothing at the deadline he was the most vocal, so no I don't think he minds at all

JB is more than delighted that JD is on his team smashing, are you kidding? He might get mad at times when he misses a hitable pitch in his mind, but that's how he's always been. That's not new to him this year and he certainly doesn't care that the focus & media are all over JD. Bautista boycotted Sportsnet all summer to support a teammate he doesn't give a s*** about the attention, he just wants to win.

As a top level sportsman and competitor he strives to better himself each day but IMO there is no jealousy when a better player is helping him achieve HIS goal of winning.

JD and Bautista compete together for their team to beat their opponents.

Really I just don't get the Bautista attitude issue, he is desperate to win and Josh is helping him to do that.

Just no. I think you should go back to body language reading school.

LOL, Bautusta is 35 soon, he is not a child, he knows other younger players are surpassing him. Get real. Bautista said recently JD was the MVP of the AL. You don't know Bautista's psyche, please don't pretend you do.

How secretly jealous is JB of JD on a scale of 1-10?

Funny they just finished talking about this exact thing like 20 min ago on fan 590

You sure know a lot about what's going on in Joey's mind.

I don't see why people are so bothered by the notion that Bautista might have a bit of jealousy towards JD. It doesn't mean he roots against JD, nor does it mean he's not thrilled to have him here, but it is possible to feel all of those things at the same time.

JB is very proud, he has seniority and he was widely considered the leader of the team and now JD comes in and the virtues previously extolled on JB are now being extolled on JD, all the while JB is having yet another solid season in his own right (and in his mind he thinks he also gets it done on both sides of the ball, even if we don't agree). There's nothing wrong with a bit of professional jealousy; just human nature. Only Jose knows for sure, but I agree it would be naive to think he doesn't feel a bit overlooked.

To me he seems genuinely happy for all his teammates. I'm sure he's in awe of what JD is doing right now, but he's been there before too. I would have to think he enjoys not having the full weight of the team squarely on his shoulders, and it probably helps him enjoy the success the team is having when the pressure isn't all on him.

Yeah. It's kind of a silly discussion. Bautista was The Man here for a long time, and no matter how much he enjoys winning, it's human nature to be bothered when a bigger (younger) fish comes in and takes a bit of your spotlight. There's zero reason to believe this will negatively impact the team.

The last part is the key thing, so what does it matter even if he is secretly jealous. *If* he is, it doesn't appear to be hurting anything.

cant believe this is real life.

My favourite of the four comments I read: "josh ready to risk it all."

If the Jays make the postseason it's going to be ugly... good pitching shuts this team down... and our SP, well, let's just say it's rubbish.

I'll take Price, Stroman before any other team's 1-2 in the AL. Teams that will make the playoffs of course.

Stroman? Be realistic... there's so much that could go wrong there or he just might not be MLB ready... it's really just Price and piles and piles of s*** disguised.
