Yankees weekend series is sold out. Proving what I've always said: Winning doesn't sell tickets, buzz does. An extra 250K in tickets won't hurt the bottom line for the team though.

The buzz is a result of winning? AA could've brought Tulo and Price in but if the Jays were on a five game losing streak the NYY series would not be sold out.

Next year if everyone is healthy:

Travis

Tulo

JD

Joey

EE

Saunders

Smoak

Martin

Pillar

That lineup is ridiculous. And who knows if there isn't another upgrade made.

Is there any way in hell this guy would forego retirement for another 1-2 years with the Jays? He just seems like such a solid addition to the back/mid end.

He doesn't need any more money. And if he really wanted to win a World Series he'd just sign a one year cheap deal with NTC with Cardinals.

1st base is an obvious upgrade that can be made.

AA should just go to Rogers and say - "I need an extra $50 million in payroll"

He then proceeds to sign 2 pitchers (including Price) and take on Votto's contract.

Dude... seems like we can never muster anything vs rookies... lol... let's wait and see, shall we?

This is probably premature, but how much would WC tickets at home go for (assuming you can get them from ticket master)? :)

I really like Revere for this team. Feel like his slow start has taken away a bit from how useful he can be. Will be really interesting next year what happens with Saunders and Pompey. I'm actually pretty shocked Pompey didn't get traded once we have Bautista , Pillar and Revere locked in.

Travis has been one of the best second baseman in baseball and his stats seem to point towards him being able to sustain that. This shoulder injury is really a bummer, I love watching him play.

Last year I had to put down a deposit on World Series tickets (and every other round) before the season ended (I'm a season ticket holder). My premium dugout seats (so $75 face during regular season) were $375 for the world series if I remember correctly. A hefty bump from regular game prices.

Should be the best offence again next year, with above average defense. The other nice thing is it requires no moves at all. Pitching is the only issue to be addressed in the off season.

How would this lineup look with a healthy travis in it?

Travis

JD

Tulo

Batz

Martin

EE

Smoak

Pillar/Pompey

Revere/Pompey

Speed/power/hitability wow just wow

Jays are 6-0 with Tulo as the leadoff man. If the team continues to roll with Travis out, I wouldn't mess with the top of the lineup. So i'd probably plug Travis into the 7th spot ahead of Pillar & Revere.

Don't mind this.

Tulo will remain at leadoff with JD batting second.

Travis can fortify the bottom of the order in Goins spot.

Pompey will be ready to play in 2016 and will be up in September to provide some flexibility

if that game were to actually happen you could probably sell those seats for 3-4K each.

Just for reference, Votto will be 32 years old once this season is over, and the remaining terms on his contract (what an acquiring team would have to pay) will be 199M over 8 years.

2016: $20M | 2017: $22M | 2018: 25M | 2019: 25M | 2020: 25M | 2021: 25M | 2022: 25M | 2023: 25M | 2024: 20M Club Option (7M Buyout)

What a spectacularly insane contract that is.

That is amazing insight. So how will this affect the team's win probability added (WPA) by Jose Bautista for the remainder of the season? Currently fangraphs indicates for Jose Bautista for 2015 that it is +1.64 (WPA) with a confidence range of -6.81 (-WPA) to 8.45 (+WPA) - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1887&position=3B/OF

Do you expect the statistics for Jose Bautista to remain valid for the remainder of the season considering the personal problems that he is having? I guess you are optimistic since you believe he will right the ship just in time.

That's not a confidence interval.

I see that you are right when I read through it in more detail.

I plan to stick with the ones that can be determined without making assumptions: ones such as RBI's, BABIP, Runs, home runs ...

ugh no Smoak.....

I think its time to, unfortunately, accept that Smoak will not be seen as a every day player. That 1B/DH position is going to be cycled between him and Cola with a sprinkle of Martin or Navarro depending on the catcher for the game.
