TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Not going to jinx anything, so not going to say we are going to make it, but a lot of things are starting to fall in our favour. First off, yes Minny is ahead of us for the 2nd WC spot, and they are probably not favoured to hold on to it. We should be able to pass them if we can stay healthy. Second off, the Angels are falling like a stone. 6 losses in a row, they are only a game ahead of Minny, and having just lost CJ Wilson for the year the outlook isn't the greatest. If they keep falling, we might not even need to pass Minny. Houston will run away with the West now, and a 1 game WC playoff doesn't look as scary with the remaining contenders. Anything can happen, but right now there is a 5 team race as I see it for the 2 WC spots: Us, Minny, Baltimore, White Sox and LAA. Tampa and Detroit were sellers at the deadline and "should" fade out. I can't see Texas hanging in there. The White Sox are creeping back into the race, and they stood pat at the deadline and they scare me a bit. But I think you'd have to think we would be the favorites out of all the teams fighting it out. If can stay in the playoff hunt and keep having playoff atmosphere games like today its going to be a helluva ride from here on out!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 5am. ...Honestly if you really want one - 10.50am. WRONG NO DON'T LISTEN I was there today for a WELCOME MAT and the lines were ridiculous. Be there at like. 9:30. Latest. Bring a book or six.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 lol serious? What time did you get there today? 10:30 and the lines were looping around side walks and s*** for a f***in' welcome mat I was just there cause my cousin wanted to see BP in his first game and s*** and it took us 20 minutes to get in. We went through the fan pass gate at the back of the stadium near the hotel and they always have a ton of whatever giveaway so we got one but damn the lines were not pretty. Esp Gates 5/10. Holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Gate 10 got remade into some concert-y kinda area and it's stupid as f*** but the lines now poor onto that Navy street. For a Russell Martin, Certified Canadian bobble head, maybe you could get away with 10:30 if you were super lucky but if you really want to be sure, 9:30-9:45 is best.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Angels really s***ing the bed. That top wild card spot is in striking distance as well. A one game playoff in Toronto would be fantastic. That game would be f***ing insane. I'd way rather just win the division. Eyes on the prize.

Minnesota's pitching depth isn't that great, and any that they have is horrible, with FIP's north of 4, a struggling bullpen, and a lack of OBP in the lineup. And the Twins are a mediocre team overall.. that 20-7 month was an outlier. This team isn't making the playoffs.. it wouldn't be surprising if they finish at or below .500. And Trevor May's in the bullpen (innings limit?) As for the Angels, the David Freese and CJ Wilson injuries have been devastating for a team with little depth. They had to use Colby's bro as a starter today because of their lack of options in the minors, and probably because Nick Tropeano isn't an option because Jered Weaver and his 85 mph fastball are coming back shortly. But Freese's loss hurts. Neither Gillaspie, Featherston or Kubitza are decent options offensively.. look how much the Angels have struggled to score. White Sox are a tough call.. you just saw them get routed by the Yanks.

TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I went to Stroman bobblehead day and we got there 30 mins before gametime and got 4 (took the family) A lot of people lined up at 9:30 for that too but they looked dumb when there still plenty left at 12:30

One game playoff versus the Angels, White Sox or Twins? i like our chances, especially if Price is on the mound!

Of course, it may not matter if the Angels continue to implode. 1-9 since Freese went down.. mostly because they aren't scoring. Might get him back in two weeks.. but it's possible he doesn't return until late August. Reality is, though, their lineup is thin. It's mostly dependent on Trout and Pujols, with a little bit of Calhoun. Neither of their catchers hit, LF has been a black hole all year, and why is Giovatella still leading off? And their bench, even with the trades, is awful. That team really needed another big bat at the deadline.. but don't have the farm system to get it.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Oh man I really just want the Yanks to go on a slide and for us to catch them. I want the division so bad. Then we'd better beat them next weekend by taking 2/3 or sweeping.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Speaking of players struggling, Pillar has a 34 wRC+ since A-S break. Time to re-call Pompey. Also, my sources tell me that the White Sox, Rangers and Orioles have strong interest in Valencia.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I predict Navarro in to catch Price first start
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Goins batting 7th. That seems a little high for him.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Guess he's just riding the hot hand. Goins has looked good in the past few games, Pillar has been useless and not providing good at bats (I think he had 4 pop ups yesterday?)
