guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Wow, brutal IF defensively today. The good thing is we're facing Danks. The gameplan should be to score 5+ runs in the top of the 1st so all the s***** defense happens while we have a comfortable lead!
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 you can't count him as available.... Supposed to be available after the AS break. Hard to justify trading for a LF'er when you should have a pretty good one in a few weeks.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I've got the solution for Reyes SS: Go with a 2-man OF and 5-man IF with Goins or Valencia directly behind Reyes to mop up all his misplays... this way Reyes can keep his ego in check by continuing to play SS and we now have a relatively solid SS position! Success! Probably a good day to play Goins and DH Reyes. I guess Donaldson really needed the break.

I think it's better for his development to stay down until he can really force their hand like he did last season. Very true that it hurts the team. Carrera and Colabello in LF are a nightmare.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Well it's better than keeping him in the lineup and letting him take the field.
BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Oh God donaldson is in the home run derby
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Oh God donaldson is in the home run derby This is the first time that I've ever honestly felt confident that a Blue Jay can win the derby. Excited to watch.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 The field for the derby is f***ing great this year. They're showcasing so much premium young talent. What a bomb squad.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Wish they got Harper in over Pujols or singles machine Fielder.
StroShow Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Wish they got Harper in over Pujols or singles machine Fielder. I'd have to think he was the first guy they asked. He said no though.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Wish they got Harper in over Pujols or singles machine Fielder. Pujols is going to put on a show.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Wish they got Harper in over Pujols or singles machine Fielder. Harper wanted his dad to pitch to him, he can't, so he declined. (Rotator cuff surgery)

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Yeah I figured, just would be nice to see him there. Bautista admitted in yesterday's Sun that his shoulder isn't a 100% yet, declined the Derby. You'd think he'd rest for the ASG, guess he wants to go.

If I were a player who got selected to the All-Star game I'd definitely show up for the festivities.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 and... HOME RUN DERBY CURSE AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! But really it's not that big a deal.

strochez Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Saw that Josh Donaldson's pitcher for the HR Derby is Bobby Tewksbary who apparently is his private hitting instructor. You know who else has worked with Tewksbary since 2010? Chris Collabello
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Is this Bob Tewskbury the old Cardinals pitcher from the 80's? If so, a pitcher is a hitting instructor?

He's Donaldson's hitting instructor, and apparently also Colabello's. OK thanks, just got in from driving home from Canada's wonderland with the kids...wasn't watching until now. Makes sense because that would have been odd!

Top 10 Personal Catcher Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Colabello and Donaldson were friends before Colabello was acquired by the Jays. There's some pretty cool stuff on his site, in my opinion. https://tewkshitting.com/linear-rotation-elite-swing-mechanics/
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I am surprised Pete Walker still has a job. These guys start games with absoloutely no plan whatsover. Whether its Hutch, or Sanchez, or Boyd or Dickey. They get crushed early on, however the early parts of the game are where Walker's plan should be the most apparent.
