G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 So much pressure on Delabar and Osuna...
LTR Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Since May 18th, Loup has 13.1 innings of 3.38 ERA / 1.75 xFIP ball. Three holds. Money! May 18th? That's pretty arbitrary. Also please don't use "holds" as a measurement stick. I like Loup though, his velocity is up and xFIP is solid, K% and BB% are very good, he's been unlucky.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Kershaw: last 5 games 34 2/3 innings, 6 ER, 49 K's Cecil: last 5 games 4 2/3 innings 9 ER, 5 Ks Just fluke brah. Small sample size pffffft

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Rasmussen has given up 5 ER in his last 2.2 innings, he should fit in just fine I sort of get calling him up. In spite of his last two appearances, he's been pitching quite well. Would like to see a few less walks though. Redmond I just don't get. He doesn't appear to be pitching at all well right now, and he wasn't on the 40 man (I don't think). Why would they not call up Jenkins there? Only thing I can think of is that they'll outright Redmond off the 40 man in a few days when they activate Travis, rather than send Kawasaki down.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I know, it's incredibly arbitrary. I never said it was a meaningful stretch or that holds were great. I was merely pointing out that Loup has been money since everyone was calling for his head weeks ago despite great peripherals. Cecil is in a very similar situation now and I would advise people to not jump to conclusions. Relievers appear to be very streaky because they pitch so few innings but in reality, their talent levels don't change that much in-season. Cecil is still good. Cecil's only issues right now is command, and by the looks of it, a little lack of confidence. He can't throw his fastball for strikes consistently, so his wicked breaking stuff can't be used properly. He'll get it sorted out. I'd like to see Cecil removed from the closer's role until he does though, and go by committee until then.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Travis doesn't deserve a call-up Travis wasn't to be called up until Wednesday or Friday anyway. Didn't we forget what Gibbons and AA said?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 If anyone wants to vomit for hours, take a gander at tonight's lineup. Gibbons knows this is a vital series. He ain't holding back.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Christ don't tell me Navarro is in DH Reyes Bautista Edwin Navarro Colabello Carrera Valencia Pillar Kawasaki Unless Donaldson and Martin are hurt, this is about as inexcusable a lineup against a division rival as I've seen.

I'd give him 2-3 more games before I'd call him up. There is no rush, our offense doesn't need him.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 No Donaldson, wonder if the team benched him..

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 No Donaldson, wonder if the team benched him.. Off-day. Nothing more. Needs a day off after playing every game this season.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 didn't he DH a couple games ago???? Donaldson not playing doesn't piss me off as much as Martin not catching or DH'ing. Didn't he sit just this past Friday? We're paying $85 million for this guy to play 3 out of 5 games?

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Why is Kawasaki playing over Goins. This is the game where we need the D
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 He's on pace for 130 games caught... I think this is a case of AA hoping Navarro gets hot with the bat so he can be traded. they are giving him as many AB as they can to try to get some value. I highly doubt he is a jay after the deadline.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I think this is a case of AA hoping Navarro gets hot with the bat so he can be traded. they are giving him as many AB as they can to try to get some value. I highly doubt he is a jay after the deadline. I was thinking along those lines as well. The Jays have enough pop and hitters where he becomes a bit redundant. He's been clutch last year, and has had some good ABs this year, but load him up with as many ABs as they can, let him get into a hitting streak, then try to find a team looking for a bat/catcher/both and try to make a deal. By the deadline he'll be owed less money so maybe a team is will to eat a little more of the contract, or if a team really is desperate the Jays pick up at least a semi decent player in exchange for the Jays eating his contract owed. Once Travis is back and if he can continue his offense at least a percentage of how he started off he should be able to help make up for Navarro's offense so it's more reason to try a trade. Then again maybe he stays a Jay and his bat helps win games. Who knows? Ideally the Jays can use him, maybe a low level prospect to pick up a decent starter or reliever who can shut the door. Anything that improves the team I'm good for.
