Sanchez is going to miss at least one more start (probably more).

Sounds like they're going to continue running Copeland out there...

I'm going to the father's day game for my first home game this year. I was looking forward to watching the Sanchize live but I guess I'll settle for Cy Copeland!

Good. Sanchez sux

I'm not sure what an injured Sanchez does for the Jays though. Can't move him to the bullpen now. Probably have to wait for him to come back to create another trade window and in the interim, the likes of Copeland take his place.

It helps the team if they can manage to momentarily remove their front office heads from their front office anuses, and call up a SP who is not below replacement level. Batt Moyd would do nicely.

Insufferable. So you see no improvement in Sanchez's last several starts?

I don't even watch the games. The box scores could have been done by nearly any SP in pro baseball, given enough luck in such a small, 3-4 week sample size.

Sanchez is the ultimate sell high to me. ERA is deceivingly low but high GB rates and still very young. Some GM would value him as a core piece in a trade, I think.

~ 11 starts this year....only 1 time gave up more than 3 runs. Best starter on the team by far this season

Edit: Syndergaard can't even claim that in his last 3 starts...lol

Tell me, what's your secret? Is it just purely blind homerism or do you sprinkle a little stupid here and there?

I agree 100%.

He might be lucky...but Buehrle has made a career out of it. Completely different ways, but if Sanchez can throw strikes the so called luck would be more of a skill. Just pointing out that however it has happened Sanchez has had good game results

My secret is, I am not an idiot like you. You can't just evaluate the game of baseball and specific players only on stats. Stats can be used to enhance either argument. In the end baseball is about winning games (and having fun).

Isn't that exactly what you are judging Aaron Sanches by? Lack of runs given up?

Giving the team a chance to win and I was pointing out that stats can show many things.

You think Sanchez gives the team a better chance to win than Syndergaard would?

Why are you asking questions when you know what his answer is? lol

Not certain....both have SSS to see how they would perform in the future. But based on this year's stats (again SSS) I'd trust Sanchez just a little more, but that could change. I'm not sold on Syndergaard because his fastball lacks good consitent movement while Sanchez seems to consistently have great movment. Both rely heavily on the fastball and Syndergaard I believe would get hit harder more often until he gets better on the offspeed pitch usage. At the same time Sanchez has shown to be able to effectively pitch good with only a fastball (if throwing strikes). Both have question marks but Id take Sanchez and his ability to limit hits at this stage over Syndergaard. But that could change with a larger SS

How much fun he has out there!

Might want a different signature that one is taken

He had it first but it is so good I think it deserves to be used twice.

Blue Jays Injury News: Aaron Sanchez on the mend

Even while many of us were anxiously watching the MLB debut of Toronto Blue Jays prospect Matt Boyd, we understand that it was simultaneously made possible by both Boyd’s performance in the minor leagues and by a created opening. An opening created by an injury to Aaron Sanchez.

Now Sanchez appears to be on the comeback trail.

Sanchez has been rehabbing from a strained lat muscle at the team’s spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida since being placed on the disabled list on retroactive to June 6th. Per Blue Jays manager John Gibbons (h/t Dhiren Mahiban, MLB.com),the right-hander will throw off a mound on both Wednesday and Saturday before having a rehab assignment determined. If all goes well, he will make a few minor league starts before rejoining the team after the All-Star game on July 14th.

Aaron Sanchez made his last appearance for the Blue Jays on June 5th, throwing his best game of the season while holding the Boston Red Sox to just one earned run over eight innings of work. It was the fourth straight quality start for the rookie, who had allowed just eight earned runs and striking out 17 over his last four starts (28 innings). Unfortunately, the recovery from that last start didn’t go so smoothly and the Blue Jays were forced to shut down their prized prospect.

In two seasons for the Blue Jays, Sanchez has appeared in 35 games and made 11 starts. Between the bullpen and the rotation, Sanchez has a 7-6 record, 3 saves, a 2.73 ERA, a 6.3 K/9 ratio, and 60.4% ground ball rate. There is still some debate over his long-term prognosis about whether he’ll pitch out of the rotation or the bullpen, but Sanchez’s recent performances were starting to put that argument to bed before the injury sprang up.

That injury led to three starts for Scott Copeland, who produced mixed results, and then Saturday’s start for Matt Boyd. With three more turns in the rotation (at a minimum) between now and Sanchez’s expected return, Boyd will likely get a few more starts to prove he’s ready for consistent big league action. Daniel Norris could also see another shot but has thus far struggled to find consistency in Triple-A Buffalo.

Thanks. I like Sanchez's stuff but his BB/K ratio is still a big concern. Many think he is headed back to the pen. Im still not sure how those real issues disappear as a closer over long haul.

Not in the history of mankind...just currently.
