Maahfaace Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 This offense is crazy good so far this year, even with a bunch of scrubs at the bottom of the order. Just imagine if the jays had decent options instead of Goins and Pillar to run out there every day. 1st in Runs (314) the d-backs surprisingly 2nd with (267) 1st in XBH (202) dodgers with (188) 1st in OBP 1st in OPS It is however, surprising to me how the Jays collectively have only been walked once intentionally. You would think with some of the scrubs that have followed the big bats this season that this would happen a little more often than once so far. If this team gets and stays healthy, is it possible for them to come close or even eclipse the elusive 1000 run mark for a season?

You usually walk someone intentionally when there is a big difference between the guy you're facing and the guy after him. If you don't get intentionally walked it means the offense is balanced.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Last time a thread like this was made, the Jays went on to s*** the bed with their sticks, thanks brah!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Now imagine the pitching wasn't AAA
LTR Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Other than Donaldson there isn’t really an elite bat in the line-up right now (a lot of good bats), and who is really going to walk JD to get to JB.

If you don't get intentionally walked it means the offense is balanced. Absolutely incorrect. Jays haven't been winning many close games and that's when you usually see intentional walks.

LTR Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Jose Bautista isn't an elite bat? .263/.400/.537 .402 wOBA 160 wRC+ Not Elite. Didn't notice he'd raised his OPS over .100 pts since playing through injury. Yeah, he's elite again.

Being "elite" or "not elite" doesn't change over a couple of months... for example EE is also still elite (barring the shoulder injury being serious enough to mess him up long term.)

OK.............................. board full of Cptn' Obvious's. There are two main things that affect performance: injury and age. Bautista was playing through injury (and may still be), he wasn't necessarily elite during that time. I never said he wasn't elite in general, I said 'right now', which I thought he was still under-performing... and a couple people, so kindly I might add, already corrected me on this.

Bautista was easily elite while playing through the injury. The lowest wRC+ I can remember was like 130 and that was early last month.

Smokey Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Bautista still drew plenty of walks during his "none elite" days mostly because of his amazing approach at the plate and the fact that other teams still viewed him as elite and refused to give him much to hit.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 it's pretty cool to see the similarities and differences between the Dodgers and Jays http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&players=0 Looking over the traditional stats you see the're the same. But look at how they generate their value. The Jays have superior base running while the Dodgers have superior defense (would have been better if we didn't run Italian dude in LF all the time)

Colabello has been downright atrocious on defense. He's actually been so bad that he's still straddling the replacement line despite carrying a 156 wRC+ through 32 games. http://i.gyazo.com/d6b327bb39391b23812b30949d734c0f.png

LTR Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Even better Blue Jays are #1 in baseball in BsR. People think the Royals have a strong running game, they don't. It may be more timing then anything else, especially last year during the play-offs.

LTR Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 kevin f***ing pillar Hey now, he's looks pretty good since that day off and supposedly lowering his leg-kick or something... 1.207 OPS in the last 9 games.

He swung at quite a few junk pitches yesterday.
