they should have the money to offer him a good deal.

Depends on how things shake down with Pruitt/Labaut/Feltner/Perry/Eden etc. as well. But yea, they should have the money to sign Crouse if hes the guy they want.

Demi Orimoloye signed for 450k today underslot in the 4th round. Seems like Brewers got a a steal for a guy ranked anywhere from 30-75 in the draft.

Wow.

Orimoloye wasn't ranked "30" by anyone by the time the draft rolled around. More realistically he was 60-100, and its possible that draft writers didn't even knock down far enough.

Thats why I typed 30-75.. Its still a steal of a pick at that price no matter how you slice it metafour.

Btw BA had him at 41. Kiley in the 70s. Thats right where my range was.

So, how'd the Jays do overall this year? Best year of AA' tenure, worst year, middle of the road?

I think they did a great job given where they were picking and their budget. Should get a couple MLBers but it's probably not going to be AAs best draft. So far 2013, 2012 and 2010 look like amazing hauls.

Signing

Teddy Cahill ‏@tedcahill 17h17 hours ago

Blue Jays 5th rounder RHP Jose Espada signed for $330,000. Pick value was $345,300. Projectable righty was first Puerto Rican drafted.

I was certain that he'd be going to Oregon. I still say he was miles ahead of Pompey at this age, similar enough guys with Demi having the better baseball body

I don't know why people keep trying to bring this up, it really doesn't mean much. Pompey was a near unknown when we drafted him, I vividly remember the only "film" on him being a home video on Youtube of him shagging fly balls at some park (not a baseball field, a public park). The point? He was a blank slate and therefore his skills were a projection. To claim that Orimoloye is "miles ahead" doesn't all of a sudden mean that he's a much better prospect. Orimoloye has been on the elite circuit for ~2 years now playing with and against the top American kids in his class, he SHOULD be further ahead. That exposure also means that his flaws are a lot easier to pick out.

Had Pompey been in Orimoloye's shoes it is very possible that his skills would have been widely discovered earlier, and he'd have been a ~top 2 round pick.

Yeah. The "100K dollars" fight. Sounds like the new Clint Easwood movie.

Reggie Pruitt signed

Lol at this blatant bluff tactic from earlier in the month:

But very, very nice that they got him to sign.

Did not expect Pruitt to sign either. I looked up his profile online and was just blasted with Vanderbilt stuff. Sweet.
