Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Inventory of young pitchers 1. Stro (torn ACL out for 015) 2. Hutch 3. Sanchez 4. Osuna (used in MLB bullpen) 5. Norris AAA 6. Castro AAA (current injury to index finger...) 7. Matt Boyd AA 8. Hoffman High A 9. SRF Low A according to Jeff Blair article today, the Jays realize that a significant bullpen addition is required. The though of trading Norris to get this piece is being considered especially with the progress of Hoffman. Is that the right guy to trade? I'd lean to moving Sanchez, but he probably doesn't get you the same asset in return If you don't want to move Norris/Hoffman you're not going to get anything back other than filler. What is the play for AA??
baubau Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Don't give up anything. Call Norris up soon and move Sanchez to the pen.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 there are no unsigned guys out there that will be a significant bullpen improvement are there? When you say money, do you mean Papelbom?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Norris, Castro, + 2 low level prospects for Chapman and Cueto
S33n Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Norris, Castro, + 2 low level prospects for Chapman and Cueto They wouldn't do that.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Rafael Soriano sound good to anybody? did you watch him pitch the last half of 2014? He sucked
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 They wouldn't do that. Give up both or would want more
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 If it takes no prospects and all it takes is picking up someone's contract, or signing a UFA, that's the move. Forget trading any assets for relievers. There are good relievers available every year...all it takes is some money. what about this year? for the Bluejays right now?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Cecil is fine as the closer, what we need are more reliable guys to get to Cecil.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Cecil is fine as the closer, what we need are more reliable guys to get to Cecil. or a closer and move Cecil down to 8th inning guy also works.
S33n Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Give up both or would want more They would want more for what you're asking, although I have to admit I haven't checked out Chapman' contract status.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 They would want more for what you're asking, although I have to admit I haven't checked out Chapman' contract status. next year would be ARB 3 year. http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/cincinnati-reds/aroldis-chapman/
IronLadle Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Cecil is fine as the closer, what we need are more reliable guys to get to Cecil. This is better idea, a high profile closer offers little value and costs a lot, we'd be better off with a couple decent relievers
LTR Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Don't give up anything. Call Norris up soon and move Sanchez to the pen. You mean the guy with 18 walks in 27 innings in AAA? You're hired!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Norris, Castro, + 2 low level prospects for Chapman and Cueto The two lower level prospects would have to be SRF and one of Pompey, DSJ or Alford.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I'd try to give up Boyd as the main piece going the other way. However, it's going to cost way more than that to land a truly elite closer. Only way I see it happening is in a massive package for a starter + closer. Hamels + Paelbon; Cueto + Chapman; Ramos + Latos
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 The two lower level prospects would have to be SRF and one of Pompey, DSJ or Alford. If Norris + Castro + DSJ + Labourt/Nay gets it done I;d jump at that package.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Don't give up anything. Call Norris up soon and move Sanchez to the pen. Sanchez would be the type of reliever to give up 3 back to back walks, then would let Loup give up a walk off grand slam.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Trade for Chapman and make him a starter
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I'd rather just move Osuna to closer to save his arm since the workload is less. That lets Cecil get more high leverage innings and use Hendricks as your RH late inning reliever. Cecil, Delabar, Hendricks in the 7th/8th with Loup facing only LHH and Osuna in the 9th is fine. What this team needs is a Starting Pitcher and CF, one hits LH preferably.
IronLadle Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 what this team needs is two starting pitchers and a couple decent relievers
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 You mean the guy with 18 walks in 27 innings in AAA? You're hired! ...that's funny. you beat me to it. Norris is walking people like crazy in AAA. Its too bad.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Trade for Chapman and make him a starter Best idea in this thread.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I'd prefer turning Edwin into some assets, preferably an outfielder who can play defence above a little league level, and if we can get a closer thrown in then sure lets do that to. Preferably, 3 way where we get Gomez and trade EE to another contender.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Bautista dickey Thole Matt Boyd and 5.65 mill or six For Martinez kela deshields Williams and Cordell
