Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Only if the AL East was any good. This is the worst division in baseball by a mile.. all the good teams are in the AL Central and West. That could affect us a lot in the next 5 years. -Jays make the playoff (82-80 wild card) and lost the tiebreak game 7-6 against the Royals = FO extension

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Jays position players have 11.2 war. Second only to the dodgers' 11.4
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 lol mj, you would like 2 morons like the hodge twins. Who blamed him for being thrown out there you mental midget? They have pretty much have thrown anyone out there you mental midget. So you have no valid comeback but just go on a troll spree and hurl insults...Says it all. You are a massive troll. You criticized him for not catching it, when someone said he is being forced to play out of position you said he is a "Baseball player"...yeah and I am the mental Midget? LOL. Maybe we should put martin out there ihe is a "BAseball player" right? HERP
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Don't tell Candy Moldanado that, or else be prepared to be labled a mental midget. LOL funny cause it's true. Reyes is a "BAseball Player" so according to Candy he should be able to play RF.

Smokey Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Gibbs sounds frustrated cannot blame him, team is playing dumb baseball. Maybe he wouldn't be as frustrated if he wasn't playing hit and run with Goins at the plate and Kawa at 1st (in the 8th inning I believe)....

Smokey Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Meh a lot more bad happened in this game then that. I'm just saying he took part in the amateur hour and does deserve some of the blame.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I'm just saying he took part in the amateur hour and does deserve some of the blame. Lots of blame to go around yes, but cannot blame gibbons for being frustrated, players have to execute and they are not. Best run differential in the division yet last place. Dumb baseball.
Governator Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Josh Donaldson is the current AL leader in fWAR (3.2) and Brett Lawrie is 69th with 0.1.

What was wrong with that choice? Just asking cause I thought it was a good move. Goins is a slap hitting dude who normally hits a lot of weak grounders naturally cause hes s*****. You gotta hope that down by one run late he can use one of his patented s***** swings to hit a little 5 hoper at the shortstop hole. Thats all he had to do. But goins being goins he overthinks even a hit and run and tries to murder the ball and swings through it like a retard and makes Gibby and Kawa look bad when its all actually goins fault.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Best run differential in the division yet last place. 2nd best RD in the AL yet the next to last worst record in the AL. s*** luck.

"Goins being Goins" has little to do with overthinking and a lot to do him just being bad at handling the bat (although I admit he has made some improvements this year). I personally wouldn't take a chance with him making contact when you have the top of the order coming up after... Look, even the president of the Ryan Goins fan club disagrees with the decision... Gibby putting on the hit and run with Goins. What a f***ing idiot, and he's done it unsuccessfully several times this year to boot. I'm not trying to blame Gibby for the loss or what's happening this season but his decision making in general has been far from ideal.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 2nd best RD in the AL yet the next to last worst record in the AL. s*** luck. luck has nothing to do with it.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Highly doubtful the Jays play tonight. Rain is projected in Washington, DC.. doubleheader likely on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Smokey Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 2nd best RD in the AL yet the next to last worst record in the AL. s*** luck. Sounds like after all the defending you've done of this FO that you don't even watch many games. s*** luck? No my friend, just terrible baseball. Going 3-12 in one run games has a lot more to do with poor execution than it's does with luck. A terrible BP and a continued failure to drive in a runner at third with less than 2 outs does that to a poorly constructed team.

What are you talking about, I barely post anymore and haven't commented on the FO in a long long time. And I don't know that it's all luck, but from the studies I have seen a lot of it is luck. Take the 2003 Tigers, for example. They might be the worst team in baseball but their record in one run games was above .500. Are you telling me that the 2003 Tigers didn't play "terrible baseball" and had good "execution"?

I was referring to all those posts you made after the Marlines and the Mets deals defending the direction that the club was headed and calling guys like the Hurl and BTS overly cynical for having the foresight to see more than two feet ahead of them. Well, since then this team has done nothing but lose close games or run up the score when going up against weaker starters. Look back at last year or the year before and you'll see the same pattern. During the first year the excuse was all those "unlucky injuries" and now it's s*** luck because the result are not reflective of the run differential. Maybe luck has cost the team a win or two and maybe they're not really this bad, but at the end of the day this is a terribly constructed team that is 3 years into the all-in window and is so far from even thinking about a championship. s*** luck is the least of this organization's problem.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Get ready for another loss. That lineup is horrendous. Goins, Carrera and thole

Lol they were so cynical they started cheering for another team. And I wasn't even that hard on anyone. We have 5 less wins than our Pythagorean record and 4 wins less than our BaseRuns. So yeah, our luck is s*** right now. Only the A's have greater differences between their actual wins and their Pythagorean and Baseruns. You can blame it on "poor execution" or a "poorly constructed" team but that's not really saying anything. That's just spitballing Joe Morgan style. And I'm not saying this team is amazing or anything, it certainly has its holes, but overall they have played well so far they just don't have anything to show for it.
LTR Verified Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Get ready for another loss. That lineup is horrendous. Goins, Carrera and thole Carrera is actually not that bad. 103 wRC+ which doesn't include his baserunning and the dude has some jets. He hasn't had much success in the majors but he may still have something to show.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Get ready for another loss. That lineup is horrendous. Goins, Carrera and thole Nats lineup is no better. No Span, and Rendon still not close to a return, and Bryce Harper batting 3rd with a .228 hitting Zimmerman batting cleanup. Don't expect Harper to see anything to hit tonight.

The pitching has been terrible as a whole and the offence has been shut down at some critical times. The run differential numbers are skewed by the fact that they've been able to run up the score some games when going up against weaker arms but usually come up flat against good pitchers. It's pretty clear at this point that you haven't watched many games and are just reaching for reasons as to why they've underachieved. The fact is however that they're just not a very good team right now.
