Lets be honest - Astros may be in first place right now, but that lineup is still ugly as f***. Hilarious the crooked numbers they've been able to put up on us this series. I think our record is something like 1-15 in games where we've scored 3 runs or less.

Were they? I didn't take part in any of these arguments but I think it was clear that there was a high likelihood of the pitching staff hamstringing the team all year. Using what metrics was this staff considered adequate to support a title-calibre offense?

Were they? I didn't take part in any of these arguments but I think it was clear that there was a high likelihood of the pitching staff hamstringing the team all year. Using what metrics was this staff considered adequate to support a title-calibre offense?

 

To give just one example, there was a huge debate on this forum on the necessity of having an 'ace' on the staff and for the Front Office to sign a high quality free agent starter to lead the rotation. Many on here argued that we didn't need a Shields, Scherzer etc. and those who suggested otherwise were pretty much burned at the stake.

 

Some even went so far as to suggest there was no such thing as an 'ace' and anybody who believed in such a thing was a dinosauric imbecile.
