AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 If you could only pick one player, which would you take?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Betts. Don't forget Betts is most likely a better 2nd baseman defensively than Travis.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 This should be a good thread though.
Nox Verified Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Not too much of a case for Travis here yet. (And I do like him)
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 It's still clearly Betts. Although Travis looks like the Mookie of the Year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Betts. Closer than it was a month ago though.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 If you could only pick one player, which would you take? Betts Coulda made a poll though.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Mookie. Insane bat speed, great speed and great defense.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Never heard of him but his name is "Mookie Betts" lol wtf, I'll take travis.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Although it's early, Travis looks more polished at the plate. Time will tell though, but if i had to choose , i'll be a homer and take Travis.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Betts tools Did you see Travis turn on that 0-2, 98MPH inside fastball for a HR vs Kelly? Tools..
Top 10 Personal Catcher Verified Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 If the question is if I could only pick one player who would win a fight between the two, I'll take Travis.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Betts tools Betts wasn't supposed to have big tools, that's what makes the question interesting (if one-sided). He's Devon Travis but with even better minor league stats at level-appropriate ages and a better defensive pedigree (Betts could probably hold his own at shortstop).

Most of his projections don't expect to any more than average to slightly above average defensively. His most elite tool is hitting.. he could easily hit .300+ per season, but with limited power of 10-15 HR. Travis also has a better arm.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Travis all the way. Why? What would you have said two weeks ago?
flafson Verified Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Why? What would you have said two weeks ago? 2 weeks ago i wouldn't have known about either of them, so that argument is a wash for me

Mookie at least got 60s on his run and field (and hit, obviously). Travis is/was kind of all hit and fringe average everywhere else.
