o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I don't typically blame the team for its injuries (it's a part of the game after all) but if Norris tears his labrum just so he can give the team few more inneficient innings, you can bet I'll place all the blame squarely on the organization. This is ridiculous. It sucks that Reyes and Norris are injured but denial is not a proper way of dealing with injurie. Put them on the DL ffs. Goins is being forced into action anyways and why is Estrada here if not for this very situation? I'm with you on this one. the walking wounded policy is retarded. the body needs to heal when it's a true injury. muscle pain and cell damage are not the same. better to have 2 weeks without a player and have them 100% the rest of the year instead of at 75% for a month and then out for the rest of the year.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Probably better to send him down for service reasons. That works too.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Mark Buehrle and CC Sabathia say the opposite. "You work through it and you know it'll come back," Sabathia says. Mark Buehrle says, "We all go through periods where our arms are just a little tired. It's a long season and there are times where you might have thrown 60 or 70 innings but you feel like you've thrown 100. "There are times where you haven't thrown in five days but you feel like you're thrown for 12 days in a row. I guess that's what I think of when I hear about dead arm." Here's the link http://m.mlb.com/news/article/6526748/ I just read that, ignorance at its finest.

Given that he's not pitching well right now anyways, it seems like there's nothing to lose by giving Estrada his spot.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I'm still high on Norris. He is getting beat by himself. His stuff has translated well into the bigs, it's just his control which has been s***, and now we have a good reason why. I actually wouldn't mind sending him to the minors for a month to get him past the dead-arm phase, but we have no one else available, so we gotta stick with the troubles. Dickey is Dickey. He'll always disappoint me. But I'm most concerned with Hutch. I don't know what is his problem. Shouldn't we have expected Norris to struggle with his command/control? Career BB/9 of like 4.0 in the minors. Everyone ripped on Sanchez all spring for his poor control (and rightfully so) while seemingly ignoring that Norris and his cool lifestyle, hipster van and handsome beard has the same flaw.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Well f*** me... Seems like there's no way of knowing for sure if this is serious or not. MRI will tell you if there is cellular damage... that's what they have them for.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yeah, send Norris down instead of DL'ing him. Saves his service clock a bit. Only problem is, who takes his spot? If it's Estrada, then who takes Sanchez's spot? Francis? Jenkins? Why'd you have to get hurt, Stroman?????

His mechanics have not been good ether and that might be part of why he is getting the dead arm. Remember he is still working on a completely new delivery mechanic. that means building the muscles in a new way and it might be a little too much at one time.

You're getting a lot of stuff confused here. Firstly, sure they have similar flaws but the magnitude is not the same and that matters (a lot). I'm pretty sure you already know this but for whatever reason you choose to ignore it and act as if it's others who are being ignorant. Also the command issue in of themselves are not unexpected but the dead arm as exarcebating factor is not. Once again, you're ignoring a key piece of information. Perhaps you do it to be annoying?
strochez Verified Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 From what I've read I'd just skip his next start and give it to Francis/Estrada and put him on the DL if you need to and have him throw side sessions and work with the Toronto team doctors (who are superior to Buffalo's) until it clears up. Or make like Buehrle and work through it with Francis/Estrada warmed up and ready to step in if need be.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Estrada and Boyd? Am I missing something, has Sanchez lost his rotation spot?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Probably better to send him down for service reasons. can do both. send him and down and then put him on the DL. kills two birds-.

Thanks ahead of time for your anticipated cooperation. Has he been banned again, or are you being facetious?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Am I missing something, has Sanchez lost his rotation spot? tick tock tick tock.... just a matter of time. That's the only thing that would make them hesitate taking Norris out of the rotation. they only have 3 starters... Stroman injury is killing us. piecing together 1 spot is hard, two is impossible.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 So, no. Okay, thanks. His leash is going to be very short. he's going to need to be lights out for at least 6 tomorrow... I dont see him being in the rotation next time around if he shits the bed tomorrow. At least that seems to be the general consensus.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I'm seeing double...might need a beer...

It was just a little tiring seeing people rip Sanchez all spring long while Norris walked on clouds like the guy on the Old Spice commercials. There's no evidence to suggest his struggles with control are at all related to this "dead arm" he's now claiming to have.....maybe it's causing it, but considering he's has significant issues with control in the minors - I'm not convinced. That all said - I do hope Norris figures out this dead arm thing and goes on to have a great year/career...as a Jays fan, a lot of the teams future really rides on that unfortunately.
