Laika Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Our line-ups have looked much better w/o Thole, Kawasaki, Rasmus, Goins. Gonna be killer when Saunders is back. No holes.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Our line-ups have looked much better w/o Thole, Kawasaki, Rasmus, Goins. It has, having Rasmus and francisco Striking out all the time didn't help. Much better this year.

LTR Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I was hesitant to include Gose in that list, especially considering how he has been playing so far this year.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I was hesitant to include Gose in that list, especially considering how he has been playing so far this year. So instead of a random inconsequential hot streak in August, he's having one in April?
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Biggest surprise for me has been Travis. I was totally expecting a giant black hole at 2B this year and while it's still too early to say it's been patched, I'm getting more satisfied by the day.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (last years and this years turf) Probably a more accurate representation of what the field looked like in 2014 (without the ridiculous lighting in that first picture): http://www.canadiansportsbetting.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Toronto-Blue-Jays-World-Series-Odds-2014.jpg An improvement nonetheless.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 just realized the Tigers have 4 of the top 5 in all of baseball in average. Reyes is at #5

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Yeah, whoever is putting together these color comparisons is dumn for using that second picture to refer to the color of last year's turf. Just looking at the flag tells you how obviously poor the picture quality is. The lighting in that picture makes it look like glow-in-the-dark Zeus jizzed all over the field. Also, those retro fields looked atrocious. If we're talking about color alone, I actually didn't mind the look of the worn-out turf from last year, it played well with the stadium blue.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Rays lineup is garbage, a series we should win. Chris Archer is alpha though.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Shi Davidi @ShiDavidi ·5 mins5 minutes ago John Gibbons on new turf at dome: "Some guys have told me it's slow." #BlueJays Not sure if that's good or bad for us, especially Shipley
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Rays lineup is garbage, a series we should win. Chris Archer is alpha though. it's garbage but they've put a beating on the Marlins offensively.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 It's more about his projections. Forgive me for not being able to deduce that the phrase "considering how he's been playing so far" was more about his projections, but his projections say he's going to be a defense-first guy with decent baserunning and a mediocre bat. It's essentially exactly what he was last year, and what we all already know of Gose. Sure, he's hit the ball in a 20 PA sample. He's also yet to take a walk, he's been caught stealing on the basepaths, and he's striking out a third of the time.

ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I think you guys are overvaluing Saunders How? Please elaborate.

The projections vary, ZiPS seems to like him as more of an everyday, average or better player. Steamer seems to think he's below average. Yes, a few good games means absolutely nothing, but I was on the fence [about him being a detriment to our line-up] so omitted him to avoid getting into a debate about his value (like this one we're having now). Get it?

Get it? No. Gose was a good player for the Blue Jays, so I'm not sure why you had to mention a reason for his "omission" from your list of scrubs.
