Just read article that's says that's his goal, to be back for September. Already riding bike. That could be a huge help for a playoff drive, even just coming out of pen. Edited by jayswin11

Nobody will know until likely August.... Everyone heals differently some slower some quicker. It is not out the question to maybe see him in Sept but he could be feeling it till December.

Imagine Stro gets healthy in August/Sept but can't come for a couple weeks because he has exams

If he comes back, I'd imagine it'd be in a bullpen role. Either way, I'd rather he sit out and not rush things.

Maybe

Depends on how the pitching staff is holding up and where we are in the standings...

What will happen is this:

Stroman will come back in September but he's still mindful of his knee.

As a result he starts to put less weight on it, throwing off his body motion.

Which indirectly leads to more stress being put on his upper body and arm

then BOOM tear of the UCL.

Tommy John and will miss the entire 2016 season. There goes two years of control to injuries.

This

If we're still in it late in the season and our 5th spot is a disaster mix of Sanchez,/Estrada/Henriks/Redmond, you can bet your house Gibbons would want to patch up that hole with Stroman. Otherwise, I don't expect Stroman to be back at all, perhaps with some BP opportunities but only if he's 100% good to go.

A torn ACL for a pitcher is much less serious compared to a running back or receiver, and some running backs have returned to action in about 6 months. Stroman's goal isn't that far fetched.

Who? AP did 9, and that's the fastest return I can think of.

Like his attitude and drive and wanting to compete but even if everything goes as planned, I wouldn't bring him back, especially if it's a non playoffs situation just to give him as much time to make sure it's healed considering how important he's going to be for the next few years. If he's 100% healthy, passes all the tests, and they think he can manage to pitch, then I can't see the harm IF he's 100% but considering it's his landing foot, the motion involved, I would be worried of some aggravation or another injury. This team has a history of saying a player is OK to come back only for them to wind up back on the DL.

Best case he's 100% can throw a few big league innings in Sept maybe the playoffs.

Worse case they say sorry kid wait until ST next year so we know you're good to go and not rushing anything.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was back in August, and it also wouldn't surprise me if we don't see him til next spring. There seems to be a very wide range in terms of how much time it takes for an athlete to come back from an ACL tear, and it's different in every case. I assume that a bit of it must have to do with how much drive the guy has to get back, and if it comes down to that, Stroman seems like a good guy to bet on.

I see you are sitting on the fence.

I'm with you. I love this as a motivator but I'd probably prefer to give him the whole year off.
