G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Seemed like our hitters sort of owned Doubront over the years
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Buffalo fodder. I'd call up Francis before him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 My feelings were correct Over the last 5 years, Jays have hit .307/.364/.586 (.950 OPS) off of him, with stupidly good numbers for Reyes, EE and Bautista
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Reyes .435/.400/.826 OPS 1.226 EE .368/.409/.895 OPS 1.304 Each with over 20 PA (Still a small sample size, I know)

Maybe he's better off in the NL or just not in the majors period.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Decent depth piece. Will he be stretched out as a starter in Buffalo? I honestly don't see the difference between him and Estrada, had Estrada pitched in the AL East these past few years.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Good. Was hoping AA would take a shot at him when I heard the Cubs cut him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Yippee...he fills in Drabeks spot...

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Hasn't he always been a starter? He started out as one, and then got demoted into the BP as a mop-op/scrub guy. He got pissed off about his job and that's why Sox got rid of him (plus pitching like s***)
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Hasn't he always been a starter? More like a swingman.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 He seemed decent in 2012 and 2013. What happened in 2014? As a depth starter, he's not bad.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Blue Jays Sign Felix Doubront By Jeff Todd [April 2, 2015 at 8:22am CDT] The Blue Jays have signed lefty Felix Doubront to a minor league deal, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports on Twitter. Doubront spent all of camp with the Cubs before he was released on Saturday. Doubront agreed to a $1.925MM salary to avoid arbitration, but Chicago will pay him around $473K by cutting him loose before the season. He had a rough spring and lacked options, making it hard for Chicago to keep him. For a Jays club that has been in need of bullpen depth, Doubront represents a welcome and risk-free investment. The 27-year-old has certainly had his struggles at times, but has shown the ability to miss bats at the big league level even in a starting capacity.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Or never ever facing a right-handed hitter again. I see him as insurance for Hynes more than anything else. At least he never has to face EE/Bautista/Donaldson
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Nobody should have to face EE/Bautista/Donaldson back to back to back but guess what? All AL teams will have to anyway. Muah ah ah ah ah.
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Who's the best protection bat for Donaldson? I'm assuming Saunders or Smoak who can bat from the left side.

Best protection for him is what he has hitting in front of him. If they are getting on base then they are going to have to pitch to him. IMO anyway

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 I know it won't happen but should Donadlson be the one hitting 3rd?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 ZIPS quite likes Doubrant this year (1.3 fWAR over 128 innings), his ERA has has been 50 points higher than his FIP for his career. Not huge split issues...looks like an okay depth move.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Who was protecting Donaldson last year? Brandon Moss?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Perfect world is probably something like: Bautista Donaldson Martin Encarnacion Saunders Reyes Smoak Travis Pompey It's a shame Bautista is so caught up on the so called "honour" of batting third. Leadoff or even 2 is way too out of the box but 4 would seem like a nice compromise. Cleanup hitter has a nice ring to it. That one SHOULDN'T feel like a demotion but it's just one of those things that's not worth upsetting a star player over.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Has Francis ever not pitched like s***? but Canada!
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 but Canada! I actually had a line ready to go after what I posted about that. I figured fans might've grown up a bit. You know with the thinking how nationality matters.
