Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 It's kind of funny that everyone thought Stewart would want Navarro because he's stupid, and now everyone is calling him stupid because he's not going to trade for Navarro. I thought he would want Navarro because Navarro is an obvious upgrade to his team. Navarro isn't great, but he's a clear improvement...

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 "Adam Jones is a five-tool guy who comes to beat you every day and is a great leader," an NL GM said of the Orioles' center fielder. "I love Trout, but I just love Jones a little more." Chances this was Stewart? 99%? Probably likes him a little bit more because of his skin colour. Suck on that Riccardi!
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I'm fine with carrying Navarro. The only reason I ever really wanted him gone was to free up his salary for someone like Neshek, Lowrie, Crain or Badenhop. Also because I hate him. But he's not a useless piece, as long as they don't criminally misuse him, which in all fairness is probably something they'll do. I'd much rather have Weeks taking the salary and roster spot that Navarro is, but oh well.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 That's like saying they should put Drabek in the rotation because he'll get his pitches in. no, it's like saying, "put Drabek in, he'll find the mound" lol

Yeah, I think Gibbons is good, as far as managers go, but there's no way he uses Navarro as sparingly as he should be used (if he's still with the team...)

Edwin hurting his back might temper down some of Gibby's insanity, but I think we'll see Navarro getting way too many DH AB's regardless.
Nafro Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Diamondbacks catching prospect Peter O'Brien is struggling with his return throws to pitchers. According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, there were more than a half-dozen return tosses that went wild Sunday in a "B" game. And the same thing happened in a Cactus League game Friday. It sounds like a case of the yips, though O'Brien does not carry a good defensive reputation overall. "I've been working on it," the powerful 24-year-old said Monday. "Getting it under control and making sure I keep the tempo of the game up and keep working from there." Mar 16 - 11:48 AM Does anybody else find this really funny. I'm suggesting someone with large stack of porn mags head down and fix this ASAP. I hear it is an important skill-set of a catcher to get the ball back to the pitcher after each pitch.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Two young catching prospects neither of which can actually play the position nor hit enough to make up for it. What could possilby go wrong for the Diamondbacks? Navarro would actually represent a defensive upgrade for them which is something to really wrap your head around.

I know we all complained about our catching situation a couple years ago, but the D'backs catching situation could possibly be worse than that. It's mind blowing.

The quote was out of Lyle Spencer's questions of the Arizona GM's which means it's down to Dave Stewart of the Dbacks, Jed Hoyer of the Cubs, Walt Jocketty of the Reds, Jeff Bridich of the Rockies, Farhan Zaidi of the Dodgers, Doug Melvin of the Brewers, A.J. Preller of the Padres and Brian Sabean of the Giants. So we can add a .9 to your 99%. Best comment from Calcaterra's article on it is this one: Over the last three years, Jones has 94 HR, 286 RBI and three Gold Gloves. Trout has 93 HR, 291 RBI, and zero GGs. The offense is a wash, and the GGs prove that Jones is a better defensive player.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Derek Jeter won 5 GG. He obviously the best defensive shortstop in the 2000s. , maybe Trout should start doing jump throws from center.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Trout has zero GGs. This really surprises me. I thought the old school types liked his defense. Guess not.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Adam Jones kinda looks speedy. Dat's racist (but probably pretty close to how the people who award gold gloves think).

I think once Trout gets on the top of the list he could stay for a few years. I just hope it doesn't take forever.

I think it's "dues." that 1950s attitude that the young kid needs to pay his dues as well as the large number voters that are east coast based. Angels games are just too late for those old f***s to watch. lol
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 What's racist about a leaner build appearing faster than a bulkier build? If I told you that Trout liked fried chicken, collard greens, and watermelon you just might explode. Does anyone who post "Dat's Racist" ever do so without their tongue in their cheek? Saying black people are fast is not racist. At most it's a racial stereotype and yeah you could argue that it's really just about being lean and not being black at all but that would actually mean having a serious discussion about this when it's completely unwarranted.
