does sanchez remind anyone of henderson alvarez? all hard sinkers, secondary pitches are not really where they need to be yet. Really needs good infield defence behind him because of low k's.

The more I think about it, the more I see it.

He does, except that Sanchez lacks command by a few ticks. I think we should stick with Sanchez though. He's still young to learn and master a secondary pitch.

He should learn Hutch's slider.

He gets a crap load of groundballs when his sinker his low..

When he throws any offspeed pitch he is work in progress.

When he throws offspeed vs LHB he is tossing underhand batting practice..

Cmon guys one pitch wont succeed in the majors

i agree with most of this, but weren't we all saying the same about Henderson Alvarez when he was a jay? he seems to be doing something right and is carving out a nice career in miami right now. i think we just need to be patient with Sanchez. He has such power in that arm, surely he will eventually get some command of the secondary stuff. as i mentioned earlier he really needs a changeup to use against lefties.

I love the way the pitch framing detractors all talk about the Umpires adjusting and not getting fooled when the catchers glove is moving...but then good framers with moving gloves still continue to get strike calls.

Henderson has command/control, Sanchez does not have command/control currently. He had 4 full counts today, he could have easily walked 3-4.

a little better stuff...a little/lot worse command.

If Smoak and Barton simply don't cut it would this not work better? I know it's not ideal obv, but if they simply are liabilities maybe a patchwork move if Navarro stays with the team.

Righties:

EE @ 1B

Navarro DH

Lefties:

Valencia 1B

EE DH

Unless you want half the throws from third and short to go for throwing errors, it's better to have Smoak or Barton at 1B than Edwin.
