RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Is there a specific reason you think this? he is a way better hitter away from Safeco. With the dimensions of the Rogers Centre, his numbers should spike quite a bit. Wouldn't surprise me to see him with a .800+OPS. Playing for Seatle also meant all those games in Oakland and Anaheim. Couldn't have helped his numbers.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 ofcourse as i type this, i find out he is a career .151 hitter at Rogers centre with 0 dingers.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 ofcourse as i type this, i find out he is a career .151 hitter at Rogers centre with 0 dingers. Ah. To be fair to him that's like 3 or 4 games per year, if that.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Is there a specific reason you think this? His FB distance has increased each of the past 4 years, he takes walks and doesn't strike out an outrageous amount, plus he's away from the Mariners who systematically ruin hitters.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Not sure if this is good news or bad news. Will having only 30% of his meniscus lead to chronic pain and a decrease in stolen base and base running runs, and defensive runs saved?
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 As nice as it is to know that he'll be on the roster sooner, it's impossible not to think about how this will negatively impact his body in the future, not only because that seems to be the norm for anyone who opts for this surgery, but because Saunders has a ton of injury-related trouble as it is. For a guy like Saunders, who doesn't seem to have the greatest conditioning or durability as it is, is there any chance that he'll begin to experience the major discomforts from this surgery sooner or more significantly than an average athlete? From what I've read it seems the joint will be a little less stable moving forward. However, proper conditioning and rehab will lead to a near 100% recovery. Also, since most of the meniscus is gone he doesn't need to worry about re-tearing it which would have been a huge concern if he got it repaired. Once he is healthy he won't experience any limitations (ie. we shouldn't be worried about his base stealing or defence).

I don't think the immediate impact will hurt his game that much at all.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Shi Davidi Michael Saunders says his goal is opening day and he hopes to play in some spring games. But mid-April is cautious target

But mid-April is cautious target I don't mind if he misses the first six road games. Will be happy if he's good to go for the home opener on April 13.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 You can tell this guy is seriously excited to play for the Jays. He's desperate to get back on the field.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 f***ing awesome f***ing awesome (so awesome had to say it twice) Unreal screen name. Good work.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Jays luck here's what happens Gose is a powerful bench weapon for the Tigers Saunders is on and off the DL Pillar starts over 100 games in LF and is a blackhole in the lineup with a 35% K rate Travis can't hack it at the Show
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Or: GOSE is nothing BUT a bench weapon (another Rajai Davis but with defense) Saunders misses time but is at least a league average LF over 120+ games Pillar gets minimal playing time but holds his own Travis starts years in the minors but plays his was to the bigs by mid season
baloojayz Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 f*** Saunders is such a loveable guy, so glad he will be back for opening day or close to it. Hopefully the guy has an injury free season for his sake, seems like a very selfless guy. Hope AA sees the devastation one injury can have on this lineup and acquires some more depth. Wonder how much it would take to get Altuve...

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Saunders is the man. I dedicate him this song -----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DWB7CBdvXU
Nox Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Stroman++ assuming Houston would even listen. I don't think the discrepancy in asset value is anywhere near that large
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Remember when Houston asked for Stroman+Gose for Bud Norris?
Nafro Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Jays luck here's what happens Gose is a powerful bench weapon for the Tigers Saunders is on and off the DL Pillar starts over 100 games in LF and is a blackhole in the lineup with a 35% K rate Travis can't hack it at the Show I won't touch the Saunders statement, since he is currently just been put on the DL. However, I think he has a good year. Plays in 100-120 games hits 15-18 Hr's and has 10-12 SB's with a .280 BA and .760-.780 OPS. I think Pillar gets in 60 games this year and we win 40-45 of those games. For some reason I feel like we win when he plays. I could be very wrong on that. LOL. I think Devon Travis is in the top ten in the International League and contributes to a playoff run after the All Star break. I think Gose plays All Star defense, but still struggles with the bat. At least for this year again. I'd like to see him turn it around though.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Remember when Houston asked for Stroman+Gose for Bud Norris? lol Or when Sandy Aldersob asked for TDA and Syndergaard for his 38 years old "ACE"?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Remember when Houston asked for Stroman+Gose for Bud Norris? I thought AA offered Stroman and Houston said no? Or am I thinking of another trade? Something involving Stroman came out when all that leaked Houston information surfaced.
tpurewal97 Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 also, likely comes back as DH for the first few weeks to a month? Yeah either that or Pillar comes in defensively in the 7th for the first month
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 The real concern here should be whether Jays medical staff took out the ACL instead of the meniscus. I guess we'll find out soon enough. WAT?? cf

The way I read it was that AA was trying to gauge what it would take to get Norris, but that's just me.
