Governator Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Colby come back, any kind of fool can see, There was something about the K's and your redneck hairdo, Colby come back, bring your dad and high free agent's fee We were wrong and we just can't win without you. I know that was in response to G-Snarles but you do realize he signed with the Astros right?
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 This sucks, but we're about to see my boy AA go to work. He saved some cash and he's already made calls. It could be a blessing in disguise. I refuse to let this bring me down. I'm looking forward to see our Jays making it to the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years. Get A-Rod to play left field for us, wtf!
Praxis Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I know that was in response to G-Snarles but you do realize he signed with the Astros right? I know; just a bit of fun. And apparently it passed off 61cygni for some reason as well, so bonus.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 thankfully there are more opportunities to hit righties than lefties, so he still has tremendous value. Well he was league avg against righties... i expect that to go up in the dome but there's no reason Pillar cant come close to filling his shoes.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Travis could probably play some OF. Not sure that's a great option but it's one I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 The revisionist historians in this thread are mind boggling. Freak accident and horrible luck. Only criticism that can be waged is a lack of MLB depth in the OF to start camp; but as Hurl pointed out, there is a ton of time to scoop up someone else's replacement level player before April roles around. I'll wait til April to truly panic.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I heard that Friedman actually quite likes Jenkins. With the dodgers current pen situation that might lower the prospect the dodgers ask for should the jays ask for Guerrero. So instead of Hoffman... They ask for Jenkins and osuna. Gives urias someone to talk to, even when osuna has his next surgery

Gives urias someone to talk to, even when osuna has his next surgery The only issue I might have is that I think Guerrero can also become a free agent at the end of the year if he's traded. Now at the same time, I'm sure he wants to play rather than be stuck in bench hell, so maybe he'd waive that. I'm not sure I'd want to give up Osuna if it was for only 1 year of Guerrero otherwise.

Not really the time to give up a long term assett. For now its best to evaluate intermal options (specifically how soon Dirks can be ready) while keeping an eye on who other teams will cut.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Gregor Chisholm Here's a name I didn't expect for LF. Gibbons said Danny Valencia will get some time there this spring
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Injuries happen But when management gives no consideration to depth the result is AAAA players getting 400 at bats. How handy would ichiro had been now. You guys think this is bad. Wait till a pen arm goes down. And here is Redmond to close out the ninth.

Well, if Guerrero waived the ability to become a free agent at the end of the year, we'd have him for 3 full years. Giving up Osuna for that may be worth while., but not for one year.

baubau Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Maybe AA goes after Dayan Viciedo. He was released and shouldn't cost much. At least the Jays won't have to give up assets. I don't like DV but meh, should be replacement level till Saunders is back.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Pressures gotta be on AA. Lose and he will be fired now.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Maybe we could sign Andrew Brown. There are reasons to believe he's above-replacement.

In 500 career games, he's a -0.1 fWAR, and was -0.7 fWAR last year. Heck, aside from the ability to hit home runs, his bat doesn't even play as a DH.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Watch them try the EE in left field experiment again..... ROFL! I forgot about that.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 You mean the guy that's barely played a full season in AA and probably won't even break camp? OK.... Can you read? Travis could probably play some OF. Not sure that's a great option but it's one I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Pressures gotta be on AA. Lose and he will be fired now. and rightfully so. people have been screaming for months saying this team has zero depth and inevitable injuries could potentially be devastating. while I like the moves AA has made this offseason, he continued to ignore depth and other areas of need and upgraded positions that arguably did not need to be upgraded. and now here we are. GMs will know he's f***ed so it's likely he'll have to move a big piece if he wants to trade for a replacement.

Ehjays Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 My prediction is, with AA he will fill in-house until something comes up on his favorite waiver wire
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 One thing I definitely won't miss if AA is gone is his inability to even care about depth, much less try to acquire it. He has been like this since he was hired and will never change.
King Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I lost brain cells after reading this thread
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted this in another thread but might as well put it here too: Gregor ChisholmCompte certifié@gregorMLB Dirks will start baseball activities in 7-10 days. He could join Major League camp later this spring and enter the mix. #BlueJays

Beeston done after this year & makes sense for the new President to run his own ship, which may mean AA is gone, subject to this year's results.

guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Man I'm so disappointed.... I'm conflicted between blaming the FO for still being in that dump Dunedin, maybe Saunders for being fragile as glass, or the the grounds crew. So lame, at least when Maicer went down nobody gave a s*** seeing as Maicer is f***ing useless on or off the field but god damn, not Saunders
