and commenting on the weather in Dominican as a plus makes no sense to me. If I have to walk to get my next drink I sweat 10 times more than I ever did playing a full baseball game.

A Red Sox Fan who I hate said me "I told you last year that Saunders will not plays +100 games, and Melky is better player by wide margin"

I couldn't answer.

Melky is not the better overall player, but he was the better player for us. Proven durable LF, solid bat in the two hole, and he was in a hitters park where his bat mattered more and his defence mattered less.

I think Saunders going down actually could force AA to make another big trade, which could be the good that comes out of this. We have too many pitching prospects, could swing a Devon Travis type trade for a top outfield/infield prospect. Norris, Hoffman, and Sanchez are tradeable pieces imo.

you seem to be a pretty cool dude and everyone here seems to have a lot of respect for you, but saying that dominicans can withstand more pain than canadians is a f***ing joke buddy. Replace the canadian wwii military with dominicans and there's your joke bro. Don't say this is about athletes either, you just said dominicans walk 10km to watch games in horrible conditions. If canadians were in similar conditions, we would endure just as well, if not better. We don't have to because we made our country the way it is through hard work and sacrifice, and continue to do so. If the temperature in the dominican dropped to 10°c, everyone would be wearing fur coats.

*** Breaking news ***

It has been discovered, what the hole found near the Rexall Centre, in the GTA,in January was. It turns out it was a direct portal,to the Jays Dunedin Spring training complex, created by die-hard Jays fans. Unfortunately, earlier this week, Michael Saunders tripped over the hidden exit, losing the first half of his season with the club.

Sorry I couldn't resist. Just trying to make everyone smile for a second. Its unfortunate Saunders got hurt, but hopefully it gives Pillar and Carrera and Dickerson or Dirks the opportunity to play well.

Clearly you have never seen him rebound. He can wave a mean towel though!

Come to think of it, I have never seen him rebound. I guess that's because I have never watched a Raptors practice. :)

Most of the Dominican players have to travel 6, 7, 8, or 10 km walk without eating to get to the stadium, a stadium with very deplorable conditions......And do you think a sprinkler would destroy their goal?

Saunders injured stepped on sprinkler was today joke here, in the Dominican republic baseball community.

In Iraq we dodge bombs! People have lost limbs and still have the thought of working! If Saunders was an Iraqi like myself, he'd step on the sprinkler and keep on moving like a tank! ;)

So what, 0 runs offense/run, 20 replacement, -7.5 1B. That's like, 1 win and change, so with defense.. Maybe a 2 win player?

Can Smoak play LF and platoon with Pillar, with Barton at 1st?

Has DSJ been invited to spring training? It's a mega long shot but if he has a solid spring who knows?

Zero chances. The kid is going through a transition corner OF to 2B.

You can't learn to play a new defensive position and also figure out how to hit MLB pitching the same time.

You're talking about the minority of dominican players.

We're more adapted to withstand the physical pain, and our bodies become "practically immune". USA baseball people call us "You like to play with pain and hide the pain in some occasions"....but not, its normal for dominican players to play with discomfort on our bodies.

Are you really that stupid? You're joking I hope.

Maybe good news? Taking this cautiously but such a huge decrease in projected time missed has got to have some truth to it, no?

Great news.

I didn't panic after he was injured and I'll take a wait-and-see approach on this news.

Great news.

It is exciting news however I just hope he doesn't try to be a hero by coming back too quickly and then suffer a set-back.

Hope not! I imagine keeping unproven young guns from making a hasty decision is easier keeping Reyes or Bautista from doing it.

So what changed? Is Saunders' long-term health outlook worse because of this surgery?

He is amputating above the knee and getting it replaced with one of those things the blade runner uses.

Here's some more:

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/02/michael-saunders-to-miss-first-half-with-torn-meniscus.html

Toronto announced that Saunders is only expected to be out five to six weeks after undergoing his procedure. The timetable moved up because the cartilage could only be removed, not replaced, Anthopoulos told reporters, including John Lott of the National Post (Twitter links). While that could lead to some longer-term knee troubles for Saunders, it will allow him to return to action much sooner.

Uh... how long-term? Hopefully this means Michael's knee troubles won't kick until he's retired so it doesn't affect his career.

Still, seems like an awfully selfless sacrifice. Can anyone with more sports medical knowledge offer some insight? This seems a little unfair to the guy, unless I really don't understand the implications.

What they do is remove cartilage from his penis and pack it in around the knee..... I think.

Thanks Doctor. I did the same thing with a donkey dick.

If there is a good chance of the procedure being successful I don't see the harm in trying to come back soon and have another surgery in the offseason if needed.
