"I can't say that I can read minds and I can't say that I thought that guy doesn't care. But if I don't know, it makes me think." "I'd rather be able to see you in your body language & facial expressions and know that you're upset we got our butts kicked." http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XY3dL_ng3Q0/UZ7E0ScqqTI/AAAAAAAAGG8/5VgBsxfjovI/s1600/Morrow-Freakout.gif

I'm afraid a guy like Reyes is similar, although not Bonifacio bad Bautista is a d-bag but at least he badly wants to win
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 I guess Joey Votto isn't motivated since he doesn't show his emotions... They might as well just kick him off the team since he's obviously not trying. It's not about destroying things, hit batters and scream s*** to the umpires. Votto is a leader, and he demonstrates their frustrations in another way. Votto learned to speak Spanish to communicate with their Latino teammates, and learned some Korean to strengthening the links with Choo.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Jose Reyes after a tough loss http://gamereax.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/reyesdugout.gif 8-0 bro. We didn't lose a single game.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Win at all costs - Bautista, Halladay, Stieb, Clemens, George Brett Winning is nice - MB, Dickey, Cecil, etc Have fun / meh - Bonifacio, Lind, Izturis, JPA, Wells, Delgado
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Curious which categories are Reyes, Rasmus, Lawrie, Edwin fall into? I'd say: Win at all costs - Edwin Winning is nice - Lawrie, Rasmus, Reyes I'd consider putting Lawrie in the first category if he wasn't so stupid and selfish (trying to steal home, trying to steal third when it doesn't make any sense, wanting Lind to try to score on his sac fly down by more than 1 run in the bottom of the 9th). Agree on Edwin, Rasmus in the fun / meh category with Lind
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 You were arguing the point of not showing emotion, Votto doesn't show emotion. Now you're saying it's okay. Make up your mind. Jumbo Diaz said me "Votto is like the president, he's a true leader. He's the smart dude I never met." El Jucho Cueto said me "Votto is wrong of his head with all these book full of numbers and crazy theories, but the guy always knows what to say. He's very smart. Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Can this thread please, please just die. Nobody becomes a professional athlete to not care about winning, ffs.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Yes but the point is some care more than others, it's obviously not exactly even amongst all players. Jesus Christ. I really think this is wrong. They all care, they just show it in different ways. Man, nobody devotes their whole life to something only to not care if they're successful at it. And yes, you can have fun while losing and still care about winning.

There are professional athletes that don't care if the team wins/loses. They play for a paycheck after all, not a championship. You can't tell me Lind wants to win just as much as Bautista.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Rasmus is a bit of an enigma.... at times last season he looked like he was going through the motions, other times he gave a great effort. And wasn't he late a bunch of times and in at least one instance didn't show for the game?

ManOnThird Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Can this thread please, please just die. Nobody becomes a professional athlete to not care about winning, ffs. I disagree, there must be tens of thousands of athletes who are pushed into it when they're kids and it becomes what they know so they stick with it even though they're meh about it. Same scenario that your parents force you to be an accountant, dentist or cook because it's the family job, and you do it even though you loathe it and you know there are other things you can do with your life. And you might hate being an accountant, but you're still going to do the best job possible saving me a few bucks on my taxes because you're a professional and a good person. Edited March 1, 2015 by ManOnThird This has nothing to do with showing or not showing emotion though

Nafro Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Adam Lind's back issue resurfaces on Friday Adam Lind | MLW (March 6, 2015 8:43 PM EST) Adam Lind was held out of the Brewers lineup on Friday due to soreness in his back. Lind has dealt with a long history of back issues, which flared up while taking grounders on Thursday. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated that he believes the issue is minor and that Lind should return to the lineup in a couple of days. SOURCE: ADAM MCCALVY ON TWITTER I have to say it. It would appear that Adam Lind's back trouble is an actual physical problem and not the Jays "incompetent medical staff". Hey Adam your back felt great from the treatment Milwaukee was giving you because YOU WEREN'T PLAYING BASEBALL. It would appear that once you resumed the rigors of twisting it at full speed, its your back that's the problem. Sorry and now this thread may die, and we all can move on I hope.

I have been Adam Lind's BIGGEST detractor on here. No surprise. I suffer from chronic lower back issues. It never heals. Ironically mine flared up within the past few hours. I can't straighten my back or even sit down for 5 minutes. I will say this once again. Adam Lind off this roster was one of the great AA moves from last year.

I think of all the people that ever played MLB, he's the biggest whiner of them all. I've never once heard him accept responsibility. There's always someone else to blame.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Surprising that a guy who the Cardinals (one of the best run organizations in baseball) couldn't wait to get rid of due to his personal baggage despite him having three and a half years of cheap control left would turn out to be a loser. Shocking, actually. A talented douche is still a douche. It took AA a few years, but maybe he's finally learned that there is a reason guys like Lawrie, Escobar, and Rasmus get traded for less than what they are perceived to be worth.

Lawrie was traded because of his health.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Lawrie was traded because of his health. Not when the Brewers traded him. The Jays traded Lawrie at exactly the right time. Edited March 7, 2015 by glory
