THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Best Sanchez outing ever. Until his next start when he racks up 10 K's and 0 BB. Well, I can dream..
Stoneyen Verified Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 16 whiffs, 4 of them on changeups. He also threw 75% of his curveballs for strikes! Oh and average fastball speed was 96.8
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Best Sanchez outing ever. He had a couple of outings like this right before his DL stint last year. I was really disappointed that he got hurt, you could see him turning the corner.

Last night he was legitimately great.

Oh yes, let's use FIP for a single start. The 8 inning gem against Houston was one of the best pitched games on the team all season. He had 2 walks and 7 K's in a start against Boston if that's your thing. His first start this year may have been a bit better, but let's not pretend that he hasn't looked like a dominant SP for stretches. The only reason this narrative comes up is so people who were wrong can use the 'he's a different pitcher, no one could have seen this coming' line.

In the Houston game he threw 90 sinkers out of 103 pitches. In that Boston game he only had 10 whiffs and threw only 1 changeup all night. He had a few good starts last year but nothing at all like he did last night. Putting together decent control with good secondaries to rack up some Ks, still get good groundball numbers and not walk anyone.

Dude, Sanchez has never looked like a dominant starting pitcher until this year. Last year his good starts were mostly luck. Mediocre pitchers can run into a good start here and there. Sanchez's start on Tuesday was a legitimately great start. Albeit, against a fairly weak offensive team. Hopefully he can keep it up. He's never looked as good as he did on Tuesday
