He is transitioning into a strike thrower. He's a good prospect, let's just see what he can turn into instead of labelling him a bust.

Although I put very little stock in to the numbers he put up, It is really hard to fake that kind of domination. It shows his stuff is legit, but who knows if he can harness it long term.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I don't get the obsession with Sanchez on this board. Barring injury, he's going to be on this squad. And most likely that will be in the pen where he will be a decent, but marginal contributor. Stroman pitching 180 IP versus 130 IP will have a far greater impact than whatever Sanchez will bring with 50 IP. If Sanchez does in 2015 what Loup has done every year so far, we should be happy with that. Sanchez might have good upside but that's not going to happen in 2015. Whatever his upside is in 2018 can be talked about in 2018.

Doesn't really seem hard to understand.

You are basically looking for a Sanchez for cost controlled 2B type of move

It all depends on how teams view his bullpen stint. Does it make him more appealing by establishing a short reliever floor? This board is pretty divided on that with many like myself (and I believe yourself too) feeling that his stint as a reliever didn't really establish much of anything.

I wouldn't sell on Sanchez yet, but yea obviously his 33ip last year mean nothing, bc he was terrible in his previous 400~ in the minors. I think he should start in the minors, bc their is a 90% chance in my books he will suck and get demoted before June.

Wait a second, Tercet making a statement about someone he's not high on but doing so in logical non-definite way. Where is the guy that comes on making $1000 wagers that Sanchez will be working about McDonald's by the time he's 25? Is our little 6'10" 120 lbs. giant growing up? Miss your tirades actually. Hope poker is going well for you. I haven't played in a year outside of a small home game I play.

Was always a hot debate deciding who we were willing to part with - Sanchez, Syndergaard or Nicolino. Then along came Stroman.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 My 2015 prediction for Sanchez: he'll begin the season in the big league pen, pitch well below expectations, get demoted, and subsequently stretched out where he'll rejoin the team late in the year as a starting option.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 So Stroman, Hutch, Norris, Shanchize and ? will be are starters for a cost of what under 15 -20 mill next year moving forward! Viva 2016! Should give us what 110-120 mill to fill out the rest of the team!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 expecting sanchez to do a jimmy key, pitch well out of the bullpen and move into a starting gig mid season

tercet Verified Member Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Sanchez leaves a gimme fastball up and middle of plate, fastball vs Pedro Alvarez who smashes it
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Sanchez sucks, trade him for a 2nd round pick.
tercet Verified Member Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Sanchez allows double, pretty much the same pitch that Alvarez hit out, another fastball down the middle of the plate vs LH hitter.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 If Sanchez tanks spring training (which he hasn't done at this point but flashed the potential to do today) it's probably for the best. He's still a work in progress who could use time in the minors. Sure that refrain may be getting old but he's still only about the same age as a college draftee. If he needs more time, he needs more time. No point in burning options for no gain in the interim.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 a few more outings like that and he's a lock for the pen
