Who would the O's prefer (if they had a choice) to pitch against us in the one gamer? I would think Jiminez or Gonzalez. We destroy Tillman/Chen.

But Gonzalez has owned us (albeit we didn't have Tulo).

White Sox are the dumbest team.. Sending Ramirez with no out when Kermayer had the ball in his glove and Ramirez was just rounding the bag.

Good God. Are they're any luckier teams in baseball than the Rays?

The Cardinals just make things work. After all aiming your line drives is a skill that not many teams have been able to master.

I used to say this, but it's become obvious to me that they;re just really, really good at winning baseball games.

Bit late on this but yesterday I watched the end of the Cards-Rockies game on MLB Network. Tie ball game in the bottom of the 9th inning. Ball hit to Jose Reyes at short, who bobbles the ball and can't throw out Grichuk at 1st. Next batter, Brandon Moss hits walkoff single.

In summary, Reyes's defensive blunder leads to Cardinals win.

Just a cool story from the minor leagues today. Toledo Mudhens Mike Hessman(age 37) set the MILB record for HR by hitting his 433rd today. He did it in style with a grand slam.

The home run broke a 432-homer tie Hessman had shared with Buzz Arlett, a star from the 1920s and '30s who played primarily for the Phillies' farm teams.

And he does have 14 career major league homers from shirt stints with Detroit, Atlanta and the Mets.

What the hell happened to Salvador Perez? Not that I'm complaining that one of the Royals' best guys has devolved into utter s***, but wasn't he nearing 3 fWAR at one point in the season? I remember him being close to Martin in WAR and thinking that it wasn't exactly ridiculous that he'd been voted into the All-Star game. Since then, his wRC+ has fallen to the depths of hell, and he's posted nothing but negative value. His fWAR has actually fallen to below 1.0 wins on the year.

IIRC Martin had at least a 1-1.5 WAR advantage over him leading up to the ASG. He's a hacker.

Has any team (other than maybe the Jays LOL) underperformed more compared to expectations than the Nats? If they fail to make the post season this year it will get ugly over there.

Easily the Red Sox.

They were expected to win the division.
