Athletics are calling up switch pitcher Pat Venditte

Glad he's getting a shot. Still striking out people with meh stuff.

Anyone know if the Pat Venditte rule was instituted in the bigs as well? I thought only in the minors.

First switch hitter he'll face will be Sandoval

Posted
Did they review this play? It kind of looks like Rizzo missed the tag (tries to tag his right hand, which Robinson holds back while putting his left hand on the bag...) Regardless, this obviously was incredibly stupid

From what I read they ran out of challenges.

And the crew chief was the well-respected Joe West.

Good stuff.

So has Ortiz

The only thing we need right now is some good ol clubhouse drama between the players as well as fans turning on the team.

Remember when everyone thought the Red Sox would roll over every one?

Yeah.. but nobody knew that Ortiz was going to be awful, Ramirez being the worst OF in baseball, Sandoval not hitting lefties or playing good defense, Betts and Castillo regressing, and the pitching staff being awful. Too much hype..

You don't need to call a future hall of famer awful. He has just reached the end of his road. Thats all

Some head scratchers there.

Shelby Miller top 30? Not a shot. Machado is way too high for my liking as well.

But Ortiz has been awful this year. The awfullest of awfuls.

According to FG Hanley Ramirez has been their worst player even though he's one of their best hitters. I know his defense is not good but perhaps the defensive metrics are getting screwy because of the unorthodox LF?

and all because of a deal the Tigers pitcher struck with friend Daniel Hicks in the 10th grade. “I wanted a chocolate milk that cost 50 cents, and I didn’t have the money,” Verlander, 24, told Sports Illustrated. “So I said, ‘How about I give you 0.1 percent of my pro signing bonus if you give me 50 cents now?’ He found a napkin, wrote it up, and I signed it.

“I forgot about it, but after I signed [with the Tigers], he comes over and whips out this old napkin. I’m like, oh my God! My bonus was 3-point-something million.

“Was a chocolate milk worth $3,000? I want to say yes. I was parched.”

This list is hilariously bad. Half the prospects on that list will prob fizzle out and be nothing but average. Yet you'd rather take that shot than have much more assured 4 or 5 MVP calibre seasons from someone like Donaldson? Shelby Miller at 30 ..... Good god.

Gordon Edes, Red Sox writer for ESPN: Yoan Moncada and Eduardo Rodriguez. Okay there... lol.

Jim Caple grabbing Shohei Otani was a pretty blatant "look what I know!" pick. There's no way you take him over an actual young major league ace.

Hey guys! I know the name of a Japanese player who will be here in 5 years!

Noah who?
