That's why you develop talent instead of trading it for expensive veterans with backloaded free agent contracts.

So Hamels didn't want to come to Toronto, that's interesting.

Can't blame pitchers for not wanting to come here because of the Park Factors and some Americans probably don't want to play for/in Canada.

Can't blame infielders for not wanting to come here because of the turf.

Sucks.

You also can't blame a front of the rotation starter from not wanting to play another 5+ years of basement cellar baseball.

Rusney Castillo called up. If this doesn't work out, Castillo turns out to be a bust, and doesn't turn around the Red Sox season, Cherington and Farrell are likely to be fired by the All-Star break. This is basically their last chance..

So far, Rusney Castillo can't save the Sox.. their pitching is crap again. Porcello pitched poorly, and Matt Barnes and his good fastball are getting pounded back to Pawtucket, where he is likely headed after the game, as he is finally getting exposed vs. the Angels. So far, 9 runs in the 5th for the Angels. 11-3, BTW.]

And here's Castillo *great* defense in action:

After a good outing for Syndergaard in a loss to the Pirates yesterday, DeSclafani is up for Cincinnati today in what may be his last start for the Reds for a while if he doesn't have a good outing.

Meanwhile Graveman gets a return shot with Oakland today against the Rays, while Nolin may also be on the verge of a call up shortly given the A's struggles/injuries.

DeSclafani and Graveman each pitching shutouts through 5 innings!

Weird day for pitchers.

Harvey, Sale, and Strasburg all got beat up early.

DeSclafani pitched a 1 run, 7 inning gem against Kluber and the Tribe - 109 pitches, 62 strikes, 6 SO, 2 BB. Graveman goes 6 scoreless innings against the Rays, 93 pitches, 59 strikes, 6 SO and 2 BB.

Great job by both.

And as a result, Jays lose no ground.. but it's no excuse for us losing again. Win some damn games already!

Truthfully I enjoy following all former Blue Jays/prospects. The last crop of pitching prospects are of particular interest to me because I want to see how well we did in terms of drafting and developing talent.

You can take that either way; a compliment because we might have produced so many potential major league pitchers in such a short time, or a dig at the trading away of young pitchers when we so desperately need pitching help. It's up to the individual.

There is such a remarkable list to follow though: Nolin, Graveman, DeSclafani, Syndergaard, Nicolino, Wojciechowski etc. It really is astonishing considering that all of them may have a productive major league future.

Sure, I understand, but your motive really is transparent. I do the same, yet, I won't throw it up in hindsight, I made my point during them trades, happy in MLB volume, but sad in value lost. Plenty stood on my Island, not many anymore?

lol Dan Jennings getting ripped everyone on failing to realize that it's better to leave Matusz in.

It's like a manager complaining that Jeff Francis is being left in during extra innings.

Heh, so in the Giants-Col game the Giants are down by two in the 9th. Blanco singles to lead off the inning, then steals second (???), then gets thrown out trying to advance to third on a fly ball... Giants lose.

Hidden ball trick to win the Colorado State High School Semi-Finals (9-8 game at this point). Went on to win the Championship too.

Detroit/Astros 4th game of the series looks to be a dandy, as does the Cardinals/Royals finale. I hate the Royals so, so much......
