Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Thats the problem with pitching coaches..... It is hard to shine s*** up nice and purdy..... Hardly Nieves fault lol
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Thats the problem with pitching coaches..... It is hard to shine s*** up nice and purdy..... Hardly Nieves fault lol They should have fired the rotation. Guyls like Owens and Johnson are better than what they have now.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Thats the problem with pitching coaches..... It is hard to shine s*** up nice and purdy..... Hardly Nieves fault lol Blame also goes to Cherington for not evaluating the pitchers they acquired or are in the rotation right now. Buchholz has been an enigma, Miley has regressed further in Boston with more control problems and fewer K's, Masterson looks done, and Joe Kelly is difficult to evaluate. Only Rick Porcello has been somewhat decent.. but even he has question marks. (BTW, we won't see Porcello in the coming series, as it is Miley, Kelly and Buchholz in the series). And the bullpen.. while better than Toronto's (for now), many of their relievers have terrible peripherals that show that regression is coming.. especially with the way John Farrell abuses the pen (101.1IP through 28 games, highest in the MLB, but not worst per game.. Texas and Colorado have that mark.)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 They should have fired the rotation. Guyls like Owens and Johnson are better than what they have now. Owens is not close to MLB ready (3.67 ERA, but 22/19 K/BB ratio) Johnson is more likely to be next in the pecking order, as he has outpitched Owens so far. And Barnes is bullpen bound and no longer a starting option ATM. And you forgot about Eduardo Rodriguez.. but he's not likely to get a callup for a while, as he only has 24.2 IP in AAA and has too small a sample size to evaluate.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 They should have fired the rotation. Guyls like Owens and Johnson are better than what they have now. Owens' FIP in AAA is worse than any Red Sox starter's. The only SP that's a complete turd there is Masterson. Miley has been pitching poorly, Buchholz and Kelly have been pitching well but getting unlucky, Porcello has been pitching decently. The team defense has already cost them about 1 win according to UZR. Blame Hanley for most of that (lazy).
StroShow Verified Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Owens is a future reliever. Rodriguez is their true stud.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Syndergaard outing: 5 scoreless, H, 6 K's (20 scoreless in a row) As a hitter 2-2, HR
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 If only we had Syndergaard over Sanchez.. Oh well. At least we don't only have Nicolino.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 If only we had Syndergaard over Sanchez.. Oh well. At least we don't only have Nicolino. Tulo over Romero, but lefty pitcher are good assets Sale over McGuire, but wide repertoire is better that a lefty with a crappy mechanic.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Syndergaard: 3-3 w/ line-drive 1B, 427-foot 2B & 400-plus-ft HR.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Carlos Frias toes the rubber. Not sure why you love Frias so much. He's all fastballs and looks like a reliever to me. Today is the first time I'm seeing him
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 He gets swinging strikes, has very good control and is ground ball slanted. Plenty of starters have succeeded recently without a three pitch mix so even though Frias is purely fastball variants, I don't think he's easily written off as a starter. Fastball over and over again. RP for sure

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Syndergaard: 3-3 w/ line-drive 1B, 427-foot 2B & 400-plus-ft HR. He could be the ACE/Star outfielder for the Jays
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 He could be the ACE/Star outfielder for the Jays Some people count sheep in order to sleep. Me?I fantasize about the HOF career I could have. All star second baseman with good defense and 35 homer power. Play for 7 innings, then head over to the bullpen to warm up. End up the game as a closer with a 96 mph two seamer with a splitter and 80 mph change up. I can't wait for the day we have a two-way stud player that can both hit as a regular and pitch either in the rotation or in the BP. It would be interesting to see an agent make the argument "you get two all-star type players for the price of one roster spot. My client deserves $35 million a year." edit: Derp
TRM Verified Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I didn't re-add Carlos in DDL until a few days ago yet have been touting him for months. It's clear my love pertains to his actual abilities. I'm just teasing you North.
