Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Which reminds me of my fav interview of the season: Barry Davis: "Danny where is all this power coming from?" DV: "It's called the Weight Room, Barry, I'll show it to you some time."
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 That was probably like 75 pounds total.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 That was probably like 75 pounds total. Those look like 6x 45 lbs plates to me.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Those look like 6x 45 lbs plates to me. u serious? bumper plates?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Those look like 6x 45 lbs plates to me. lol wat if you ever been to a gym you'd know that is definitely not 6 x 45. There is no one in the world that is strong enough to lift a barbell with 6 plates on it with one arm. Those are bumper plates. Bumper plates have the same diameter whether they are actually 10 pounds or 45 pounds. We can't tell unless you could see it. Usually they are color coded. Considering his size and the weird set of movements he's doing (and balancing it all on one arm), I'd have to guess its somewhere under 100 pounds but over 70.

Here's a woman that can do 210, just for reference. I'd guess Danny Valencia can do at least that. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2725819/Weightlifter-lost-arm-car-crash-boyfriend-lift-210lb-bar-head.html

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 lol those certainly aren't 45 pound plates, just look at how the barbell lands and rolls away. There is zero chance Valencia could come close to doing that with 200 let alone 315. Nonetheless its still an impressive accomplishment.
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I would guess they are hoping Peraza is a better replacement for Phillips than Renda. It must have been a slow day when the discussion is DV's weight room workout.
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/boras-free-agency-chris-davis-denard-span.html Its kind of funny/pathetic to listen to Scott Boras try and get Peter Angelos to bid against himself for Chris Davis. Anyone want to bet that Howard Berger's source was from Scott Boras' media relations department. Any discussions between the Jays and Boras, was started by Boras.

It seems pathetic, but it's usually not because he gets the deal for his player.

If he represented me, maybe he would have convinced my body that I had talent enough to be a major league ball player. He also maybe could have convinced my find to play hardball instead of fastball, lol. Best case scenario of fastball....some amateur competition for your country, and an after game beer fund for $2/beer.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Kazmir to Dodgers 3 years
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Opt out after 1 year. Great deal for Kazmir. I think we are seeing a trend with opt outs and my guess is the next trend will be no trade clauses for FA.

Actually could end up being a solid deal for them if they only had 1-2 years of contention
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Huh? You think no trade clauses will bet he next big trend? Yeah. Teams will want to keep the $ as low as possible but players would be willing to take a little less if they have full no trade clauses. It happened in the NHL and I think we are already starting to see it with the big FA. My guess is it will start to happen with the mid level FA in the next few years.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Doubtful that would really handcuff teams. Opt outs do not. Actually could end up being a solid deal for them if they only had 1-2 years of contention Opt outs are not good for teams. If a player is performing well, he will have positive trade value at the time of the opt out. For example if Price has three 5 Win seasons he would have positive value on a 4/127 contract. If they didn't want that player they could always trade him to someone since he has trade value.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Kazmir would have to have a monster year to consider using that opt-out, though. There's not much of a chance he'll beat this AAV next year.

If you ask me - no trade clauses have already hart heir time to shine. They are old news. Opt outs are the new trend

There's not much of a chance he'll beat this AAV next year. If Kazmir has a year like he has had in the last 3 he is going to get more than 2/32 on the open market? The FA class next year sucks and even then that won't make a huge difference.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I love the guys mocking the other posters who (correctly) are saying Danny V can't clean 315 with one arm. It's probably 105 lbs. (6x10)+(45x1).

They're bumper plates designed to give you the same height as a 45lb plate for lifting safety and can be as light as 10lbs though 15-25lbs is more common.
