Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I think the Jays need another LH bat. Jays could trade Revere who is going to make 7-8 Million and get some pitching. Bautista has been really bad in RF and could use more days at DH. I'd like to bring Saunders back but it would be ill-advised to rely on him. OF of Revere-Pillar-Saunders could work next year, with Bautista moving to 1B.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 #FREE POMPEY! He has more upside than all 3 of those players imo. I'd honestly like Bautista to 1B. Pillar as a 4th OF playing all 3 positions once a week at a minimum with Revere, Pompey and Saunders in LCR.

My position is that he is easily ahead of those 2 but want to hear your side.
Yorkshire Blue Jay Verified Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 #FREE POMPEY! He has more upside than all 3 of those players imo. I agree on his upside, but he needs to stop playing scared at this level (or worse still, admitting it to the media), I'm pretty certain that's the reason he hasn't seen any action other than a pinch runner since his call up. He obviously needs to gain Gibby's trust before he feels comfortable putting him out there before even Carrera at the moment.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Why is Pillar in your mind the 4th OF behind guys like Revere and Saunders? My position is that he is easily ahead of those 2 but want to hear your side. He plays all three OF positions which is something the rest can't do. I also think the bat you're seeing now is what it is and it's a below league average bat, yes his D and base running make up for it but if you can get a 2.0 fWAR player on the bench as your 4th OF it might be the smarter way to go. Pompey's complete package is a whole lot more appealing to me than Pillar is. You can have him in 4+ games a week rotating through the line up, giving Saunders and Revere days off against LHP while still being insurance for Pompey again next season. I like Revere in a line up of guys who strike out as someone you can throw in the 9th slot and figure you'll get a decent at bat out of. If Saunders is healthy it wouldn't hurt to have another LHB that can potentially give you somewhere between 108-126 wRC+ (if the knee is healthy and healed up). It also gets Bautista out of the OF and moves him to a position where he might be less of a defensive liability. I think that a line up of (potentially) Travis 2B, Donaldson 3B, Bautista 1B, EE DH, Tulo SS, Martin C, Saunders RF, Pompey CF, Revere LF looks a bit better than slotting Pillar into the 8th slot and running Saunders off the bench. From what AA said earlier this season Saunders is still in the plans for next year and I think Gibbons like Revere enough to play him everyday next season.

Yes he did, there's 3 seperate clips, the one that's 1:11 seconds long, he calls Bowa and Francouer horrible and he didn't like them. Anyhow...

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Two-run shot by Fielder. 5-3 Rangers!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Two-run shot by Fielder. 5-3 Rangers! Suddenly, there's a risk the Astros may not even make the playoffs at all, as the Rangers could be only 0.5 back with a win, and only 1.5 up on the Twins.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Would rather face the Rangers than the Astros. Besides Gallardo, we can handle all their other starters. Hamels is good but a lefty. I think we'd do better versus him than Keuchel and Kazmir. Would love to see Keuchel vs Tanaka in the WC game.

If Houston continues to struggle, it'll be the Twins facing the Yanks and the Astros watching the postseason from home. Astros seem to be crashing back to earth.. they've been barely a .500 team in their last 20, and have been badly outplayed by the Rangers.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Rasmus K's. Rangers win. Now within .5 of the Astros.
Jayzfan79 Verified Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 jinxed. yup....i made the comment when Gardner was still up to bat with the bases empty and 2 outs.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Poor Astros. They were so far ahead a month ago.
baubau Verified Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Poor Astros. They were so far ahead a month ago. I can't recall, who had the bigger division lead? Astros vs Rangers or Yanks vs Jays?
ManOnThird Verified Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Strictly by division lead, the Yankees had the bigger lead. Statistically though, being 5 games ahead with a month to go is the bigger favorite against being 8 games ahead with two months to go.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Poor Astros. They were so far ahead a month ago. Now I rather get first place :po
admin Site Manager Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Astros lucky that got that mircale win yesterday. Five runs with two outs in the 9th when they were down 3-0. Unbelievable.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I'd be more than happy to see a team like the Twins sidle into a Wild Card spot because of an Astros collapse.
