I actually wouldn't mind leading off with Donaldson, but Travis should probably be tested in the leadoff spot again. I'd probably set the lineup something like this:

1 - Devon Travis

2 - Josh Donaldson

3 - Jose Bautista

4 - Justin Smoak

5 - Edwin Encarnacion

6 - Chris Colabello

7 - Russell Martin

8 - Kevin Pillar

9 - Jose Reyes

Won't ever happen (Reyes is going to lead-off regardless), but not bad. Interesting thought experiment. Maybe something like:

Donaldson

Bautista

Travis

Encarnacion

Smoak

Martin

Pompey (in my fantasy world we have made the obviously needed LF move, but I guess you could put the Mushroom here if you must).

Pillar

Reyes

Or possibly flip Encarnacion and Smoak until Eddie gets his s*** together a bit more.

With Pompey, I would probably flip Jose and Donaldson, lead with Pompey, and move everyone down one spot.

1 - Pompey

2 - Travis

3 - Bautista

4 - Donaldson

5 - Smoak

6 - Encarnacion

7 - Martin

8 - Pillar

9 - Reyes

Reyes is a much better hitter than Pompey, why would he be the one batting 9th in this scenario?

Once Pompey returns, I don't think he's going to be much worse than a .315 OBP. If he needs to prove it first, then I'd stick with Travis there. Reyes has been terrible with the bat this season (in relation to his own standards) and it's become unjustifiable to keep him anywhere near the top half of the order.

Skewed quite a bit by when he played two weeks with the rib injury. Stupid on his part but skewed.

If Jose Reyes played first base, it might look something like this:

Preston Guilmet DFAd. Guess the Dodgers don't care for him either, just like Matt West.. they're no more than AAA filler, and aren't guys who belong on an MLB roster.

That .gif is just amazing, failure everywhere by the defense.

If Pompey comes up to play LF I'd put him 9th with Travis leading off. Reyes in the 7 spot so the team could actually take advantage of his speed.

Travis

Donaldson

Bautista

EE

Smoak

Martin

Reyes

Pillar

Pompey

JD Martinez just hit an absolute moon shot at Comerica, off the roof of the camera well in center field. Hit it further than Miggy did earlier this year.

...did you just take a screenshot to quote someone?

I have one of them ignored, I can only see his quotes if someone else quotes him, I didn't know how else to respond.

Good news for the Jays--Sox lead 3-1 on Houston. Look, the Astros really need to acquire a SP.. outside of Kuechel, that rotation is mediocre and far below the Angels, and will likely mean the Astros will not be playing in October. Especially with no Springer in the lineup..

Are you Wilner? Every post revolves around how bad the Blue Jays competition is.

Question. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a catcher pick off a runner at second base... But I've seen plenty of attempts. I wonder what the ratio is for thrown out to thrown to the outfield and the runner advances.

No I am not. And it doesn't matter.. Boston blew the game (again), losing 8-3. Basically a 4-team race in the AL East now.. at least the Angels are helping us out by beating the Twins right now.

I wouldn't blame Tulo one bit for requesting a trade. Just do it already, you know you want to. You shouldn't settle for wasting your career on that piece of s*** team.

Ventura demoted? Exact same FIP and xFIP as last year, same peripherals....Royals are dum.

He'll be right back up next start. Vargas looks headed for Tommy John..

I wonder if Ventura threw a fastball right at Dayton Moore's head and triggered an office clearing brawl upon hearing the news.

But yeah, Vargas got hurt yesterday in 2 innings, so Ventura should be right back up.
