TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The Rays have such dirty *******s.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 uhh why did you have to say something lmao. Just let it sit there
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 His reaction to losing it was pretty refreshing. Carlos has a lot of fun out there. Still a fantastic start. Nothing about him, sporting that moustache, is refreshing. His face and his arsenal are both filthy, greasy, and disgusting.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 As soon as the Yankees win, the Jays will be in a 4-way tie for the 2nd wild card, unless the Angels come back in the 9th.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Tied with the Rays now. Would be nice of the Angels to make a 9th inning come back, but Betances Time means no chance.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 To the Baseball Tonight guys thinking Rays ownership will go get bats to help the pitching, thinking the pitching is strong enough to win the division.. forget it! In fact, at the rate the Rays are falling, they could be subtracting bats at the deadline because nobody will show up at the games, and this roster lacks the depth to contend vs. the Yankees, Jays and Orioles.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The standings are so damn tight. Unbelievable I still think one team will go on a run and break from the pack. Teams look so evenly matched at this point, all with strong points and pronounced weaknesses, tough to say which team it will be. I guess whoever has the best trade deadline.....
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The standings are so damn tight. Unbelievable Both the AL East and the wild card.. there's only 6.5 games between last and the wild cards! The NL is a different story..

Likely between the Jays, O's and Yankees. Rays will collapse by the deadline.. their lack of offensive depth and overworked bullpen will destroy them against contending teams. I mean, they've been nearly no hit 4 times in 2 weeks (Estrada and those 3 Indians starters, including Carrasco).
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The standings are so damn tight. Unbelievable Perhaps the inferiority complex we have in the AL East this year is underserved? A fair amount of parity in the AL.

Not so sure on that. They have some sick pitching and + gloves @3B and 1B (Loney). Kiemaier is off the charts on D. They are struggling now but all the teams have had slumps. Easier to acquire hitting than pitching. Some people may laugh but I actually don't think the BoSox are out of it. Half a season left and they aren't this bad imo.

Half a season left and they aren't this bad imo. One thing the Rays don't have is money, due to below-expected attendance. And no guarantee Longoria and Loney stay on the team past the deadline, as they could be dumped to bigger market teams in order for the Rays to try to get payroll down to a point they can actually break even with current attendance. They can't afford their current payroll, even with revenue sharing and TV money, when they're drawing Expos-level attendance. And I know they're slumping.. but this is a AAA lineup offensively at best. And yes, the Red Sox aren't out of it.. but they've dug a deep hole, and cannot continue to give starts to Rick Porcello or Justin Masterson. Plus, any chance of contention for the Red Sox will depend what happens in coming weeks, and their July sked is very tough (Astros twice, Yankees, Angels, Tigers, White Sox). If the rest of the AL East get hot, or someone else does (Oakland? Cleveland? Minnesota? L.A.?), Boston won't have a chance.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 ^Fun fact. Rick Porcello has been a better starter than RA Dickey. If the Sox cant keep running him out there, we ca definately not keep running Dickey out there every 5th day.

Dickey still gives us length and hasn't actually been that bad.. he just needs run support! Porcello was only a good starter because he had huge run support from Miguel Cabrera and co., and big ballparks in the AL Central. He's gotten horribly exposed in the AL East.

They are budget constrained but their line up is full of guys who get on base...somehow. The BoSox have dough/assets to address their SP even after big $ for Sandoval and Ramirez. Betts has been a big positive juxtaposed against our experience starting Pompey in CF. Pillar is best utilized as a 4th OF, but we really have nobody to replace him regardless. Who knows what level Saunders plays to coming off the DL. The good news is we have enough O to still be fine with Pillar as long as he continues to play well on D - fWAR 1.7. Hopefully Travis can contribute again.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Good job by the ump to follow that whole thing and make the right call.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Happy Jose Fernandez day to all of you
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Porcello FIP 4.26 Dickey FIP 5.11 In some cases its very difficult to compare a knuckleballer against all other pitchers. Haven't there been a ton of blown strike calls against Dickey? I'm sure that contributed somewhat

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Using that, Dickey has been better than Porcello, but Dickey still has been below average (0.5 vs -0.6)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Also, Matt Moore returns today too.. and he's off to a good start, in a game the Rays need, especially with a season-defining road trip coming tomorrow.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Happy Jose Fernandez day everyone My fantasy team got a lot better today
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 It shouldn't be too hard shutting down the cleveland offense. Don't speak too soon.. the Indians just got 2 hits off of him in the 4th so far.
